Why no LINUX-Section?

Hello,

i came here by searching for Patches for Paul Nascas ZynAddSubFX, the Page looks quite promising...
The thing i found quite strange is, that you seem to ignore LINUX completely. I know, there is no completely stable Host for VST in LINUX yet, but there are lots of people out there, that manage to load at least VST-FX by using wine-vst-server and by the way: there are LADSPA and JACK, both developing at an enormous pace.
I have experimented with Steinbergstuff and Samplitude for years and switched to LINUX 3 years ago, within 2003 the Stuff started cooking and today i do not shed a single tear for abandoning all that "Standard"-Apps.
I Got Zynadd, AMS, Rosegarden, LADSPA, JACK, ARDOUR Rezound and dozens of other cool Progs to build my tracks. All free and legaly and methinks, this could be of some Interest for you People here also.

p.s.: i would be pleased to help, if someone here should need a hand to get Soundprogs working with LINUX

I think you are right. But maybe, as Jorgen Aase from EnergyXT will have a Linux-version of his program, or I heard Tracktion will go Linux too, things will change here . Mags use to ignore Linux simply because many programs for Linux are free and they get money from the big companies who advertise, like Steinberg and Native Instruments and so on. But in Keyboards, (german mag) if I remember right, there were infos about music+Linux in 2 numbers.

I had manymany problems with Windows, and as soon as EnergyXT will be Linux-too and I could load ALL my purchased - VSTs into Linux-programs too, I'd use Linux . I think if my PC crashes with Linux I can be sure I AM THE REASON , whereas now

regarding the "old PC"-Thing:

LINUX can live with slow CPU but needs lots of RAM, i run my HD-Recording-Apps and Hi-ClassmasteringProcessors on a P42.8 with 512 Megs RAM and a Terratec EWX.
On the Road i use to fiddle around with Synths (Zynadd AMS) and Waveeditors (SND and REzound) on a Dell Latitude with only PII 500 and 128 RAM. serious HD-Recording and half-a-dozen Synths at the same time are to fat for that, but cutting Drumsamples and building Patches for Synths works OK.

I wouldn't say it's been ignored - there have been quite a few threads on Linux audio (if you do a search you may find some). And Receptor (which is made by KVR's owners) is actually based on Linux. I suppose there's isn't a Linux section as such but then there isn't a MAC section or a windows section either. The forums tend to cover whatever OS's people want to discuss and are using.

Yes that might be a good idea to raise awareness of Linux (and other) platforms.

Is there a way to get some linux-audio-apps going on windows, or is there a way to run them from a live-cd and record the output on harddisk? I'd be very interested in using the timestretch-abilities of SND, but was always in fear of all those other things you have to install first to get SND going.

Any hints for that, zettberlin (where are you located exactly, zett..., xberg?)
