For Steinberg, any future product and update release, Windows below 10 is 'dead'

There are more black swans than dreamt of in that naive hypothesis. In this particular, even the ad hoc denoting time or make is falsified.
It might be comical to see what its bias clings to now. But still a waste of time. So, moving on...

Also know that Windows 10 has a different way of applying "Class Compliance" than in 7 or 8. But again, unless one has used multiple controllers of the same make/model from W7-10, they would probably be clueless about that as well.

I was using Vista when I got my Ultranova, I avoided using W7, so it's gone through three different versions of Windows without any problems. To be fair, they have updated the software from time to time but, as far as I can recall, it never aligned with new versions of Windows, so probably didn't include any specific changes to accommodate a newer OS. Face it, you're on a loser here.

Using an UltraNova as a basis of comparison is problematic due first of all to the size of that company and their lineup. And secondly due to it still being their most current for its target market.
And the Boutiques came out about the same time as W10. So neither can give the experience to know what we're talking about.
For context, the M3exp last firmware update appears to be 2008, although the current drivers do include it for W10. The Radias last firmware update is listed as 2015 yet the last working driver is for W7.
Apparently stopped to push sales of the KingKorg by their own implication to me via email support.
Although Spectrasonics does list Radias as a viable controller for their software...
Roland V-Synth GT last firmware appears as 2009 and the last working driver for it is W8 (but not 8.1).
Now maybe some would rather just deny all this and instead fall back on ad hominems to claim a distorted superiority. Or fall to the idea that companies shouldn't have to support their products after a certain time. (Roland is becoming quite famous for this in pushing for 18 months, discontinuing and letting it die as soon as a Windows update kills it.)
Or any company that does it arbitrarily with their absolute of selling what's next as some sort of "improved replacement".
But it still remains that the regurgitated ideas with less features and/or sonic abilities often just don't meet the bar.
And then there's that whole "class compliance" in the W10 thing that has further caused restrictions rather than increased a person's preferences...
And just for those that ran only the 32 bit version of XP...
I've been at this a long time.

Makes me want to pull out some old polaroids of my TI994a, c64, Amiga, Win3, 95, 98 etc. Regardless, my DAW workstation Win10 is locked down, gaming Win7 locked down, work Linux is locked down, hybrid network of all 3 locked down, abilities competent and mind at ease. The real question people should be asking...is theirs?
Doesn't matter what OS you run, its the above that matters.

Have you tried Vital?

From VentureBeat, September 1, 2019 9:09 AM.
Windows 10 had 48.86% market share in July and gained 2.13 percentage points to hit 50.99% in August. Growth has been slow ever since the Windows 10 free upgrade expired in July 2016.
Windows 8 stayed flat at 0.63%, while Windows 8.1 lost 0.91 points to 4.20%. Together, they owned 4.83% of the market at the end of August. The duo’s peak was 16.45% back in May 2015.
Windows 7 dropped 1.49 percentage points, falling from 31.83% to 30.34%. (Windows 7 overtook Windows XP way back in September 2012 and passed the 60% market-share mark in June 2015.) Microsoft is ending support for Windows 7 on January 14, 2020. Hundreds of millions of users have just four months to get off Windows 7 — while there will be paid security updates, that’s only for corporate clients that can afford it.
At the bottom end, Windows Vista stayed flat at 0.15% (it fell below 1% market share at the start of 2017, the month of its 10-year anniversary). Windows XP slipped 0.11 points to 1.57%.

Go straight for the insult, huh? I am quite able to point out reasons that IMO W10 sucks.BONES: Yet you seem unable to mention even one.
1. Telemetry (spyware) fine if you never take the machine on line.
2. Forced updates at M$ convenience, including some of the most borked updates in their history.
3. Bloat
If you buy the Enterprise version you can turn some of it off.
BONES; I sure as hell can't think of any. Win10 is so far ahead of any previous version of Windows, and of any competing OSes, that's it's jus not funny

Only useful part of this entire thread for me was your notification of a new C10 update. Thanks!dionenoid wrote: Wed Sep 04, 2019 9:38 pm Anyway, there's an update for Cubase 10 available now : https://www.steinberg.net/index.php?id=14709&L=1
