Go to the Audio Menu. Select Audio Preferences. Near the bottom there's a selector box for Freeze File Format. Change that to either 24 bit or 16 bit.
Go to the arrange page. In the local menu entitled View, select Track Freeze Switch. when you return to the Arrange, you should see a little button on each of your audio and audio instrument tracks that looks like a little snowflake. Click the freeze button for each Audio Instrument track that you would like to convert into audio. Press the Play button. This initiates a process that will convert each track into audio.
Next, switch to the Finder. Navigate to the folder where the song is kept. You will see a folder entitled Freeze Files. The audio files you just created will be in there, but with weird names. You can drag those files directly into the arrange window or into the audio window. Now you can unload those Audio instrument tracks by unfreezing them and getting rid of the instruments and effects oloaded on those tracks.

One thing you have to be aware of when you use this trick is that the resultant files will be 0db and dead center, i.e. neither volume nor pan automation will 'converted' to audio.mjones4th wrote: [Freeze]
Ah, and one helpful detail that mjones4th left out: The freeze function usually renders from start to the end of the song. But you can watch the SPL move along while it renders, so you can press command-period to stop the process when all you really need is rendered.
Yet another option is of course to upgrade to Logic7 and use the new 'total bounce' function which does exactly what you want.
