I'm not sure as I haven't been here for a while, but I think he's talking about someone else. Then again, who knows, KVR is a funky place

They don't mean you - they mean THEINTRANCER. He used to go by ScottyM at the old Propellerhead Forums, Reasontalk, and even here before he switched his username. He's a known ex-Reasoner who loves to lurk in Reason threads and tell everyone how awesome Studio One is.Scotty wrote: Thu Sep 05, 2019 3:26 pmNot sure what I did to earn that swipe...care to explain? PM will suffice. No need to derail a thread.antic604 wrote: Wed Sep 04, 2019 11:00 pmYou're quite right - I don't.festeringheap wrote: Wed Sep 04, 2019 7:23 pmIf antic604 OP changes the goalposts and the title of this thread showing each and every point update of this version like the Studio thread, then it is very possible. But I really don't think he cares about such silliness, imo...
Unless Scotty wants to take this over. After all he can't resist commenting in Reason threads![]()

Ok thanks for the clarification. I have had very little drama here in 17 years or more but I do chime in with some unpopular opinions from time to time.

I still have a license for Reason and I've had that since May of 2001, and my username I have here originates from reasonstation.net back in 2001 also. scottym was the registered name I used as a with propellerheads for Reason. It happened to be the name used for the forum, which I wasn't aware of. I don't need to tell anyone how awesome Studio One is, they can discover that for themselves but I think it's important that people know the pro's and cons of any software they may use or potentially consider buying. Unlike a lot of people on forums, I'm not an overt fan for any product I own nor that of the company that creates it, I use the product they create not give them my soul in the process. I was regularly critical of Studio One on the official studio one forums, and the product has become better as things I wanted were implemented...EnochLight wrote: Thu Sep 05, 2019 3:40 pm He's a known ex-Reasoner who loves to lurk in Reason threads and tell everyone how awesome Studio One is.![]()
If enough people were critical about Reason's rack, and didn't become obsessed with RE's, then perhaps Reason's scaling issues would have been addresed years ago when RE's were first implemented as one would have expected....
Props have essentially advertised other DAWs in their promo videos, I think it's in the potential buyers interest to make right buying decisions and to not be led down the garden path, because of others emotional attachment to it.

I own Studio One, and honestly - it's "ok". Certainly not nearly as inspiring as I find working in Reason, for sure.THE INTRANCER wrote: Thu Sep 05, 2019 6:43 pm I don't need to tell anyone how awesome Studio One is, they can discover that for themselves but I think it's important that people know the pro's and cons of any software they may use or potentially consider buying.

There are plenty of people critical of Reason's rack (lack of GUI/UX scaling) - believe it or not I'm actually one of them. I have been for many years, and been very vocal about it. You've been absent from those channels for a while, though, so it's evident you're not aware the criticism happens.THE INTRANCER wrote: Thu Sep 05, 2019 6:43 pm If enough people were critical about Reason's rack, and didn't become obsessed with RE's, then perhaps Reason's scaling issues would have been addresed years ago when RE's were first implemented as one would have expected....
You certainly seem to have a huge vested interest in that.THE INTRANCER wrote: Thu Sep 05, 2019 6:43 pm Props have essentially advertised other DAWs in their promo videos, I think it's in the potential buyers interest to make right buying decisions and to not be led down the garden path, because of others emotional attachment to it.

I wonder if Steinberg was like, in order to make VST plugins you must sacrifice Rewire MWAHAHAHA

Why would they? Rewire has absolutely no relevance to any VST host anyway. Especially as most don't work as a slave anyway.djmino02 wrote: Fri Sep 06, 2019 6:14 am I wonder if Steinberg was like, in order to make VST plugins you must sacrifice Rewire MWAHAHAHA

How is that different and better than rewire?

It's a VST3 plugin, like Serum or Reaktor - you only have Rack there, no Reason's sequencer or mixer. You can load to that Rack Reason's native devices as well as REs, presets, combinator patches, etc. You play the Instruments either using sequencer REs and Players within the Rack VST, or simply from MIDI clips inside the host DAW. You can use Reason effects to process audio, either generated by other devices within Rack VST or coming from host DAW. But it's not "Reason in a plugin", just the Rack.Atlatnesiti wrote: Fri Sep 06, 2019 12:36 pm Still don’t get it...

I never used Rewire, but the biggest advantage I imagine is you don't have to maintain and synchronise 2 separate projects and it's likely better on the CPU, since you're running one DAW not two.

maybe because vst is an defacto industry standard and rewire not?Atlatnesiti wrote: Fri Sep 06, 2019 12:36 pm Still don’t get it...

dunno, if its better. i just once used it by connecting ableton live and renoise to check if it works ^^

Audio in and out while consolidating project saves. Just need midi out of the rack vst, and there's no doubt it will come sooner than later, its simply too large of an elephant in the room.Atlatnesiti wrote: Fri Sep 06, 2019 12:36 pm Still don’t get it...

Project consolidation is my #1 these days. I used to run Cakewalk and Reason. Then Sonar and Reason rewired. Then Reaper with Reason rewired. Then just Reason. Then Reason and Reaper seperately. Then recently just Cubase as I dropped Reason, and now planning on Cubase with Reason Rack.
Its just too much to ask using multiple formats, multiple saves, mid files, wavs, etc its impossibly frustrating regardless of how you attempt to do it. Anyone who does any serious amount of work in DAWS runs into the nightmare of organizing no matter how efficient they try to keep it -- I used to have rns files, cakewalk files, reaper files, etc some wrapped together, most not due to the way you have to load them, multiple folders, audio files, nightmare. Took me almost a year to go through all my old files and convert them just to pure .mid files and wavs and 7zip each one individually after reloading Sonar for just that, 50% of my effects were missing, on and on.
Have you tried Vital?

I can't get Cubase to rewire with Reason so being able to use Reason within Cubase will be good. I also won't have to wait for Reason to sluggishly loadAtlatnesiti wrote: Fri Sep 06, 2019 12:36 pm Still don’t get it...

I used to rewire Sonar and Reason and my PC would run out of puff quite quickly - I'm hoping the new system will be kinder to my CPU!
Grum.
