Neon Breath wrote: Fri Sep 06, 2019 3:14 pm You can kiss good-bye all your hopes for a new Absynth version.
Or at the very least the wait will be a protracted one.
Wasn't Absynth acquired by NI from another dev who stopped working on it ages ago?
If I remember correctly death of Absynth was confirmed.
Yes
pixel85 wrote: Fri Sep 06, 2019 4:36 pm But even then Absynth, FM8, Massive, GuitarRig, Kontakt, Reaktor - all of them are based on 'old code' and it was mentioned here that some updates like scalable GUI is beyond the scope now - it was because if they really want to rebuild company architecture (or restructure or whatever) then most likely the ghost of old code will haunt all this software for veeeeeery long time and I wouldn't expect that they will prioritize development of eg. Absynth or FM8.
That is a pickle but I think that it finally caught up on them.
A user should not care about the technical aspects and from his point of view the UI's didn't get updated for a long time (no matter for what reasons) while other companies do provide all this. Patience runs out...
no, i think you and any user should care about what they care about.
not saying you, but my issue was with those telling others what it is they should care about.
that's where it all goes wrong.
No reason fussing over things when you see a certain sentence, without considering the context.
I work in IT, with all the technical stuff that surrounds it.

What I was expressing is a usability viewpoint that says that you cannot use technical reasons to justify negative consequences to the user experience. IT as a commodity.

If you go to a car shop, you want the car to run, the radio to work, etc and no technical BS is going to persuade you to buy that car if it does not work.

This was in no way a YOU discussion.

What was this update?
I think NI team are having trouble deciphering the rats nest of
visual basic c++ redistibutables found in many systems.
I cringe whenever i see yet another one added by
a recent installer. Open your control panel uninstall section,
scroll down to the M's, to see the herd, nervously
pawing their turf, huffing and puffing and snorting...
coders gone wild eventually leads to coders gone :hihi:

I just sent NI support an email asking them not to lay off anyone. Will update you guys when I hear back.

Nice sentiment, but unfortunately there’s no one at the other end to answer it...

wow, 46 pages of speculation and bullshit... my kinda thread :hihi:

I hope they don't lay off the person who writes the descriptions for the expansions. I can't live without reading adjectives like "meticulous, visceral, raw, soulful, lo-fi, booming, ethereal, dark, warm, immersive, atmospheric, iconic, classic, shimmering, intricate, stabbing, cosmic, and intense." How else will I know what they sound like?

Is this the quintessential KVR thread? Could there be one with more of that special "KVR-ness"?

Let's all speculate and sound off with our opinions!

I will be at the IMSTA Festa in NYC tomorrow. Maybe I can ask the NI person that is going to be there and get more info about what’s going on.
