Thinking about which company could buy NI I just had a flash of genius. I think I know what they mean by unified and fully integrated platform. They will probably do like TC Electronic has done with some of their plugins - every effect or or a synth will be tied to a specific hardware controller which also functions as a giant dongle. This will push their hardware sales through the roof.

I don't think NI is up for sale. If anyone buys them it'd have to be an Amazon or a Google - someone with big pockets. The CEO said on CDM that they are doing well financially. Revenue is up this year compared to last year. The lay offs were simply the result of restructuring. The way they were organised before was chaotic.
