Hello,
I'm reading raving reviews about Oktava MK319 mic. Neumann killer etc...Does anyone using this mic? It's really so good? Also heard that those mics can be defective. True?
thanks,
o.
btw, what about self noise? It's noisy like cheap chinese mics?

I haven't got the mic myself, but I know a few owners of them. They are pretty much excellent mics and the reviews I've seen are generally correct.
They used to supply defective models in the past (more than 5 years a go), but now they've hired a british company to make sure the quality is consistent. Nothing to worry about there.
Noise is pretty much on the same level as any good quality large diaphragm condenser mics.
"Neumann killer" is an awfully generalising statement as there are too many different models to compare with.
But if you're looking for a good large diaphragm cardioid pattern condenser sound, you can't go wrong with this.

I use the 219 and have done for years
it's a great mic, very clear.
I use it with a joe meek VC3 and would never part with it.
