The Sarge - the post on facebook was written after the problems wasn't it ?

Presumably multiple installs (up to three) on one licence - Codemeter software protection can cope with ?

lmao that key costs a quarter of Avenger's price, it's insane and I hope it won't be mandatory.
First: There is a Software Manager for online and offline. Second. For real... If you don't can pay 50€ for a dongle, you better search for a new hobby.

Maybe Vengeance can do special update offers to those who wants to go with the usbkey.
I am aware of what codemeter offers, but it doesn't mean developers will implement all licensing options. And I don't know man, I just bought a moog one without having to think about it that much because money, right now, is the least of my concerns. But just because I have a lot of money at my disposal doesn't mean I can justify the price of a service that is, in my opionion, too expensive for what it offers. You're not even paying the exclusivity of the licensing option, since you might as well use a free online one as long as the dev allows it, and steinberg's elicenser dongle (which is exclusive, since you don't have any other licensing options for their products) costs less than half.
You do you, If you are ok with that price, be my guest and buy it, it means you consider it "worth it". For me it isn't, and I am pretty sure I am entitled to the decision of how to spend my own money. Pretty sure I'm not the only one with this stance.

I'd rather not use a dongle. I wouldn't mind the software iLok as I have had no issues with it in the past.

Post

You don't have to use a dongle.

Yes. You are not the only one .... But let's wait .... Maybe people at Vengeance will come up with something sensible

Of course you don't have to. But then you will have to turn on the internet permanently ....

Post

Actually, no, i don't think you have to turn it on permanently. I think, in Reason, it's a one time per session auhorization.

Not that i will ever understand why some people are so hysteric about going online... don't you update your OS? Don't you ever update your DAW? Don't you ever update your plugins, or download new ones? No comprende, to be honest.

Post

Correct... Just want to throw in, that most computer games are online, too... Origin, Steam, U-Play, EpicGames, BattleNet - No one complains about that. And now please dont say me a hi-end gaming machine is something different than a music computer - most guys share this even on the same machine. We think an online check is not really something weird in 2020. And even if you are travelling, a simple surfstick is enough. You dont have to transfer just few kb data for the check. I never understood the travelling thing... I have better things to do when travelling/being on holiday, than making music with a bad laptop and bad headphones, annoying my neighbour in the plane etc. Watch a goddam movie or read a book! :hihi: This is my opinion, some may have another. But fact is: we have to go a route, and codemeter is the better solution over elicenser, since the update stays free (no additional cost for dongle), no USB port needed, and 3 activations still possible. If some few people sell their Avenger now, well so be it, we can not please everyone. :ud:

If you build a studio pc only for audio application, you gain good performance by stripping lots of things from the windows installation. There's no reason to do regular updates and introduce new bugs on the system (like often done with win10 updates). Same goes for plugins, if they work fine there's no reason to update and threaten your daily business. Another thing to consider is homecalling & information gathering of plugins & software. Anyways, almost every company (I thoiught NI did a dick move and requires online connections, so we got rid of their plugins) does understand that and offers the offline options.

Provided THAT everything works fine. If it doesn't, i don't know how you'd throw software, or firmware updates on a offline computer, without tediously moving it to the offline computer from a online computer.

Given that this happens how often, once a year or half a year(!?) and you don't need to update terrabytes of data, it's no hassle at all. Quite the opposit, it's only 1 day where you can manage to update everything, make a backup before, and test afterwards if everything works fine incl a bunch of plugin tests. Doing that every week for some update just in case something fails is way more debilitating.

"You don't need a USB port ....." Is this an argument in your opinion? After all, all Vengeance plugins must use a USB port because they have eLIcenser dongle protection. Are you consistent?
