In regards of Codemeter:
Now that we agree, that it´s a business decision to protect your goods, what method do you use to protect your jewelry store?? The method already failed or the method noone was able to break till now...
Codemeter is in the complete history of protection is ONLY ONE, which got never cracked!!! Neither the dongle method nor the software method!!!!
So isn´t it obvious which one to choose...
E-licenser failed ... especially the software method
I-Lok failed... even the dongle one...

Ok guys, may I ask: Do we then need to go online at every start of avenger, or is it just one time required, similar to like it was until now?
Isn't it possible to also provide a "authorizer" standalone app, which only needs to be started once, until next update? AFAIK doesn't have Reason also a similar way?

The store would actually lose the jewelry if someone robbed it so they need heavier protection. Also protection on real store is mostly inconvenient for owner, not customer.Trancit wrote: Sun Sep 15, 2019 9:26 amNow that we agree, that it´s a business decision to protect your goods, what method do you use to protect your jewelry store?? Manuel confirmed you need constant internet connection if you don't use the dongle. Hopefully internet connection stay constant and never goes down.Hanz Meyzer wrote: Sun Sep 15, 2019 9:31 am Ok guys, may I ask: Do we then need to go online at every start of avenger, or is it just one time required, similar to like it was until now?

Well, the Jewelry store will have an insurance, so they will have the value of the stolen jewelry back if that happens. Vengeance can't get an insurance that covers any loss of sales due to piracy, because no one knows the damage that piracy introduces. Vengeance is only taking precaution, and have probably been discussing internally and doing researches more than anyone of us. And the conclusion is that CodeMeter is the best possible way to go.Vladislav_Gronk wrote: Sun Sep 15, 2019 10:05 amThe store would actually lose the jewelry if someone robbed it so they need heavier protection. @manuel: Is it possible then that you keep the 1.4x authorization mechanism on your webpage, too? I mean next to the new mechanism? So I can continue to use 1.4x, even in 2 years or so? Since maybe I do not need new features anyway, there are already masses of features in 1.4x.
Thanks.

OI dont think it has to be PERMANENT. I guess a startup check is enough. But we dont know any details yet. We are still in the pre-alpha phase of everythingManuel confirmed you need constant internet connection if you don't use the dongle. Hopefully internet connection stay constant and never goes down.

msvs:
I am confident that Vengence will get its new Copy Protection right. I am even willing to spend extra money for a dongle if worried about loss of internet connectivity. I have Reason and, though I haven't used it much, I have had no problems with on-line authorization....yet.
Let's wait and see.
Sufficient to the day is the evil thereof.

Complete presets. Either using them as starting points or making them for others to use as starting points.mxbf wrote: Sun Sep 15, 2019 9:58 am i own avenger but rarely find myself putting it to use. any tips on how to find the reason people like this synth and what its best for?

Thank you Trancit, that was my next point. Splice is not as cheap as people seem to think.Trancit wrote: Sun Sep 15, 2019 9:18 amAnother good example for BS...That's why their sample packs are insane prices and will never be available on new age sites like splice, etc. EGO. It's not about money, Splice has packs from Grammy nominated producers for pennies on the dollar and this company wants $80 for a sample pack. They could make money hand over fist if they got with the times, but their EGO and control issues get in the way.
Let´s do a bit of math... splice sells you a sample for a dollar!!!
Sample Packs contain mostly 2000-5000 samples... meaning in splice´s mentality (it´s not 100% valid but you get the idea) they could easily charge 2-5k for that pack... and you claim "EGO" makes them selling it for 80,-$... this is extremely cheap compared to splice...
The only and absolute the only advantage you´ve got with splice is to be able to buy a single sample only... but compared to sample packs their price is insanely high... remember sample pack: i.e. 3000 samples for 80,-$= more or less 2.5 cents/sample... means splice is selling it 40 times higher!!!
Man, they must have an EGO!!!

Gotta love people who only register for the purpose of venting against companies. We really need more of those, because this site is so short of them.

I spend two hours a day at least on trains, they are relatively quiet, I have good IEMs to do sound design on, and my laptop is very good, so good in fact that I could use it as an actual studio machine, like many apple users already do with their macbooks (even though mine is a pc). A song I laid down on my laptop just got double platinum certification, so the "laptop" thing is not even a valid argument.msvs wrote: Sat Sep 14, 2019 11:06 am Correct... Just want to throw in, that most computer games are online, too... Origin, Steam, U-Play, EpicGames, BattleNet - No one complains about that. And now please dont say me a hi-end gaming machine is something different than a music computer - most guys share this even on the same machine. We think an online check is not really something weird in 2020. And even if you are travelling, a simple surfstick is enough. You dont have to transfer just few kb data for the check. I never understood the travelling thing... I have better things to do when travelling/being on holiday, than making music with a bad laptop and bad headphones, annoying my neighbour in the plane etc. Watch a goddam movie or read a book! This is my opinion, some may have another. But fact is: we have to go a route, and codemeter is the better solution over elicenser, since the update stays free (no additional cost for dongle), no USB port needed, and 3 activations still possible. If some few people sell their Avenger now, well so be it, we can not please everyone.

I agree some people will be unsatisfied after this drm change and I understand why, but simply because people have different means I still respect their opinion without belittling them like you belittle people who get shit done on a laptop while they have free time on a train, or even if they are producers that happen to tour around a lot and still want to put down ideas while they are around, after all not everyone has roots in their own studio chair and actually happen to be around quite often
Besides, if you're aware of the gaming scene, you can launch drm'd games offline, and denuvo or not many games still get cracked, so devs tend to focus on getting customers to pay rather than starting crusades against piracy and crippling their existing customers. As you might be aware of, other companies whose synths have been cracked, are still doing well despite cracked versions.
But again, your company, your decision. We'll see how it goes.
