Well, somehow they managed to 'lose' the confirmation email that the order had been placed (ie I never got it) but I spoke to them and they've definitely got one (of each) ready for me

Why should a music forum NOT be able to do this, if all other forms of media and control do?

Firstly, the music forum itself does nothing. Opinions presented by individuals on this forum may or may not contribute to the reassessment of opinions of other individuals on this forum; it is probably unlikely that any individual who does reassess their opinions does so solely on the basis of someone else's opinion; other factors would probably be involved unless that person is incredibly susceptible to pursuasion.

Secondly, 'other forms of media' do not do this. Some other instances of other forms of media may at certain times contribute to people changing their opinion, for a variety of reasons.

Thirdly 'media' is not an idea that can be ubiquitously conflated with 'control'. Generally, 'media' is an endeavour of the redistribution of entertainment, information, art et.c.

The 'ahem' media, distribute entertainment, yes. But its a secondary consideration. The media is a form of control, trying to pidgeon-hole us into marketable categories, so that the people in control can control us more easily. Its about SELLING and MAKING MONEY. Not entertaining us. FFS. Get real man. Governments CONTROL us.
Sorry for generalising 'people', I should have said TV changes 'some' people etc. Or perhaps TV changes 'stupid' people. I don't consider you stupid - at least you took the time and had the intellect to reply in the way you did.

Yeah I agree with that but unfortunately there are people in the world who don't have strong enough opinions, have second doubts or a number of other hangups (and thats not an insult or slur) or are just plain dumb, who DO get their sexuality/opinions/morals changed by KvR chat. As well as MSN/AOL/bigtitslivechst and the media or whatever.

Also I guess that people do change their opinions about the 'best' compressor cos of the dialogue on here.

And we're all guilty of some kind of technolust even though we now have all the essential tools (as well as lots of esoteric ones) available as freeware.
