I use DMG expurgate. For vocals I find RVox really easy if i don't want to fiddle.

The one by Unfiltered Audio, G8, is quite flexible, but might be overkill, even confusing for standard applications.

Gatekeeper is quite effective, I've had some nice results when using it where it doesn't fully gate off, just enough to dip the volume and give some shape/jitter... as a fancy trem I suppose
