Hey guys,
I'm a proud owner of Keyscape and finally want to use it for live performances. Since I'm using hardware, I need to sample the pianos...
So the easiest way is just record each key for about 10-15 sec on different velocity levels. The factory samples of my Hardware Synth are just looped.
Has anyone ever tried to loop piano samples? Seems pretty hard to get seamless loop start & ends.
Cheers
Loop piano samples?

There are products that do this - like SampleRobot and Samplit
http://www.soundlib.com/samplit/
It sends each midi key you tell it, and various velocity too - and record audio, and you can save as sample library format of various types.
Not sure if it does automatic sustain looping as well, but worth checking out.

Usually you will need to do some editing around the sustain point you wish to use and then use the onboard envelopes and filters on the sampler you’re using to make the decay sound realistic. The higher the velocity of the original sample, the higher the harmonic content you’ll have to loop up which is where the unnatural ness is usually the most noticeable. Clever filtering is the key to having a nice sound for this. You’ll hardly need any resonance if any, and then use the filter to follow the natural decay of the sound.
