Hi!

This is not planned, sorry ( and specially now, that VST2 is discontinued and VST3 is the future, some say ).

But, I think, most plugins that are VST3 also have a VST2 variant, and most hosts that support VST3 also support VST2, no?

Reason Rack only VST3, does not work in old hosts. I had to buy a Reaper 5.

I wasn't aware of that one, thanks for the info. Something like Patchwork could be handy for loading VST3 plugins inside VST2 hosts.

I could also try to compile PluginFlipFlop with support for VST3 plugins, but it is not a very elegant tool ( https://jstuff.wordpress.com/pluginflipflop/ ).

@umd I can think of multiple scenarios where it would be useful:

1. VST developers that can't provide VST2 versions of their software, because they missed out on getting a license from Steinberg before they changed their terms.

2. VST hosts and DAWs that will never see a VST3 update because they've been discontinued.

3. Developers that prefer to code their VSTs in VST2 format, rather than use Steinberg's crappy VST3 standard (which has never really taken off).

4. VST hosts and DAWs that have dropped VST2 support.

Hello, I'm sure this has come up before, but... I'm using v 1.75 in Cakewalk by Bandlab (and SPlat, X3) and noticed that *all* new VSTs are being wrapped by jBridge, even the 64-bit ones, which makes no sense. Is there anything I can do about this?

Have a separate VST32 and a VST64 folder. Then select to only bridge the x32 one.

I am on Windows 10 and using Studio One. I use jbridge to make a few 32-bit plugins run in S1. I do not use jbridge on any Waves plugins because they do not need it. However, when I try to use Waves Central to update or install Waves plugins, I get a message that I have to close jbridge first.

As best I can tell, jbridge is not actually “running” anywhere right now. My DAW is closed, and jbridge does not show as an app running in the background when I pull up Windows Task Manager.

I think it is weird that Waves Central cares about jbridge when I have not applied it to any Waves plugins. There’s nothing in the jbridge troubleshooting FAQ about this, nor on the Waves support page.

Does anyone know how to close jbridge long enough for Waves Central to update/install, or another solution? Thanks for any assistance you can provide.

UPDATE: I solved my own problem but will post it here in case someone needs it in the future.

Jbridge does not run under that name in the background. It runs as “auxhost” and “auxhost(64)”. If you use Task Manager to stop those processes, you can get Waves Central to work.

Rebooting your machine does not get the auxhosts running in the background again, which concerned me. I re-ran the jbridge installer and still did not get aux hosts running again. I fired up the DAW thinking that might do it, but no.

I then inserted one of the bridged plugins on a track, and it works fine (and aux hosts did not return to the background apps). So anyway, I guess you don’t need to retrigger auxhosts or re-install jbridge after the procedure above.

I'd also love to see support for wrapping VST3 to VST2 plugins. My favourite DAW also has no VST3-support and development has been discontiuned quite a while ago.
Also, I wonder where I can tweak the settings of already wrapped plugins afterwards w/o the need to open them inside the DAW.
This would be handy if the plugins crashes and you want to set any of the compatibility options inside of jBridge.
I miss somthing like the interface Cakewalk's VST adapter offered that days.

I just noticed there is a new beta version for Windows:

jBridge 1.76 beta (changes from v1.75d4):

– experimental support added for input SysEx messages.

– added extra option ( DONT_SET_EXTRA_DLL_PATHS ) in bridged plugin’s settings files for plugins that complain about missing dependencies ( Problem reproduced and solved with Line6 GearBox plugin ).

– other minor changes.

This is a false positive, you can rest assured all my files are virus free.

If you wish, you can submit the file here:

https://www.virustotal.com/gui/

It is normal that some engines detect a false positive, but it is not normal if ALL of them detect something.

In this case, it seems to be the NSIS installer that jBridge uses. If you google for "NSIS false positive" you will see a lot of similar cases.

The solution is to add an exception for the file in the antivirus, and if you can, please report this issue to the antivirus vendor, so that they can fix it.

I am sorry but I have no control over this issue.

Thank you for your reply. It is the first time that i have gotten this warning and that it refused to download the file.

No problem, it's a common concern.

If, after installing it you submit each of the files in the installation folder to that site, you will see that they are clean.

I have cakewalk versio 2021.11 (Build 018, 64 bit)
and I downloaded and installed the demo version 1.75 as then I read that It isn't necesary in cakewalk because It have support so If I deinstall the demo version It will continue to function the same way?

I never tried it, but, I am not sure if newer versions ( of what it used to be Sonar ) have direct support for jBridge ( I think not ). Could you check if you have the "load using jBridge wrapper" option available in it plugins settings?

Need testers for my x86 to x64 vst adapter
