...good questions...starflakeprj wrote: Sat Sep 28, 2019 9:03 am What worries me about the Suite release is not only that I already have all but 4 (Scenic is one of them) of the included REs, so the value of the $249 is not really good to me, espescially not since the reason I don't already own the other three is simply because they don't really appeal to me. So what's the plan for the Suite in the future? Will the add another RE I own (PX7) in the Suite 12? Will Reason Studios release other REs (that I will possibly buy) that they later will include in Suite 12?
Other questions Reason Studios won't answer:
- What will the cost for the upgrade from Suite 11 to Suite 12 be?
- Will there be Suite only REs released in an upcoming point update? Or the next major version.
- Will there be other features only available in the Suite? Or sample libraries? Or will the Suite ONLY have advantage of some extra REs?
- If I upgrade to Suite 11, and later want to sell my license, will the extra included REs follow the license transfer (this questions has been asked here already, but makes perfect sense). And no, a random KVR member's answer does not count for an official answer.
I would have liked for Reason Studios to at least give some kind of hint on my questions, but they couldn't comment anything. Support wise, Reason Studios is as bad as NI, Arturia and Steinberg. Business model wise, they are even worse.
I'm sorry to say this, I have always been defending "the props", mostly because I never really cared for the low resolution, and Reason have always been giving me joy, because it's damn fun to play around in. But those times I have been in contact with their support they have 9 times out of 10 been completely unreasonable.
thinking about it...if you already own a good nr of the extra effects/ins included in Suite 11
I do not think you're going to be a winner..all I guess will depend on the Suite 12 and what it will include 'cos if you add the 250$(JRR 221(forum code)) and lets say 200ish to upgrade to Suite 12 (2021?) then it may happen that some REs that you'll get (on sale) in the meantime - will be inc in the Suite 12.At the same time there are sales on upgrades...so..
So paying twice 4 the same VST will be unfair..unless they will introduce dynamic upgrades and cost will be reduced accordingly..
time will tell I guess...

I think that Reason should come with an app like Cubase's library manager. It makes little sense to force the instalation of sound libraries all over the OS drive... Especially since we are talking about (potentially) very many gigabytes of files.
Symbolic links are a suitable work-around, but come on Props. We shouldn't have to.

This is why I'm asking for an official answer on the transfer of a Reason Suite license:
There could be 3 scenarios;
1) The seller loses the 16 REs and the buyer gains them, that means the whole of what you bought is transferred. Which IMO is satisfactory.
2) The seller loses the 16 REs and the buyer doesn't gain them, then only a portion of what you bought is transferred AND you've lost the 16 REs you paid for... needless to say, unsatisfactory all round.
3) Perhaps the most likely thing happens, the seller keeps the 16 REs and the buyer doesn't gain them, only a portion of what you bought is transferred and therefore the relative value of what you can sell is decreased. Whether this is satisfactory or unsatisfactory is much more open to argument.
Hence me wanting to know the answer! Personally for me, the first scenario is much more attractive than the third. If the second is true then there will be a lot of unhappy customers.

I can't imagine it would be option 2 since previous to 11 you didn't lose RE licenses when you transferred a reason license, they are still there and waiting when you pick up a new license later.tincture wrote: Sat Sep 28, 2019 6:59 pm This is why I'm asking for an official answer on the transfer of a Reason Suite license:

I would like to know from the company what the answer to this is as well, and also exactly what their future plans are for the suite tier in general: are they going to be like native instruments and force customers who bought suite to only upgrade to suite in the future and kill the standard upgrade option? are they going to be like Ableton and let suite customers buy standard the next time around? this effects how likely I'm going to be to purchase new Reason Studios RE's, since I'm not gonna know whether it will be included in the next suite version, or whether I'm gonna have to purchase to suite version to begin with or not. (i.e. I might buy the RE's as they are released if I know I don't HAVE to buy suite upgrade next time) any answer from our Swedish friends would be awesome on these points.

Suite 11 to Suite 12.....$129 or $249?
If $129 then probably content will be the same as regular 11 to regular 12 with the only difference being original content offered for the Suite 11, similar to those additional RE given during the grace period with the launch of a new version upgrade.
If $249 (
) then it will be again a load of RE added to the Suite type account for which most user will probably already own....
Then probably all will go to the regular ($129) upgrade unless they will not allow downgrading

Is the Site 11 upgrade license listed in 'My Products' in the account on a separate line so is the license for Reason 11 (or other)
OR listed above the license it was upgraded from...
I imagine when reselling Suite ..you will loose All ...the license(s)and obviously the REs as they are part of Suite - the ones you owned before = duplicates will stay in your account...possibly they have a unique ID when they are entered into the Props Database = every user has a product list etc..
..don't mind waiting for S12 and messing with what I have now...possibly emulating what Scienic Hybrid does in Halion..or Kontakt
the 80s stuff I won't miss.(have covered).Complex is cool..(sale welcome
Other instruments .in S11..no thanks.....

This is my biggest "fear", that they will release a couple of new RE's, that I might buy, just to see them included in Suite 12.Biscotto wrote: Sun Sep 29, 2019 3:13 am Suite 11 to Suite 12.....$129 or $249?

If the upgrade from Standard to Suite is 249, I guess Suite 11 to Suite 12 will be 129.
I want to see Reason Studios having a plan, and be OPEN about this! RE's they release along the way, that they later will included in Suite 12 should be free for Suite owners. It's not like you can revert back to Standard and get money back.
Reason Studios refuses to answer these kinds of questions

I think I might skip Reason 11 completely, which would be the first time skipping a version. If they can't give any straight answers, they will not get my money.AcrossTheSky wrote: Sun Sep 29, 2019 8:00 am ..don't mind waiting for S12 and messing with what I have now...possibly emulating what Scienic Hybrid does in Halion..or Kontakt

And that Reason Studios don't have a solution for customers already owning all, or most, of the included RE's is, to be honest, objectionable, and really greedy!
