Dare I say it?!?!?! It comes with its own

LOOFAH??!?!?!?!?

Okay, seriously, now I'm REALLY stoked about SS2.
GLHF! (Gandalf Lives, Hobbits Forever!)

Post

It comes with a built in Dweezil and thermal hybernator set to stun in a G mode plexiglass simulator with hydrolic onions without the mayo and only sizzling waterchestnut pieces on the side.

Post

Oh good. I was worried about the mayo.

Forever,

Kim.

C`mon Squids, my question was serious. :(

Dweezil Zappa?

incidently, will you be running any kit/equipment piece requests in the run-up to Studiophonik release, or perhaps for expansions? Also, will Studiophonik have an open or closed beta test?

Actually, my response (of fun) was to DrApostropheX. "What does it come with".

But, I missed the previous page comments so I'll have a look and see if I can answer your questions seriously.

I am always open to requests. Although most of the sessions for Studiophonik have already been made. It does take years to compile. But, there are also things we can do in the programming even after it is released. If you look at the back of the module (even SS2 FREE) there is a hint that there will be some kind of special expansion possibilities. At the moment I cannot say more than that.

As for beta testing, we have some outside people that beta test for us but a lot is required to do it. We do very detailed product logs that have to be filled out. Notes per patch that are very accurate from someone with expertise in sampling. We're always open to getting more beta testers but we've become more and more picky in who we use because it has to really be helpful in the ways that we need it to be. That also requires getting the info back in a timely manner as well. Not everyone has the flexible schedule to do that.

This is a sure thing. I'll probably do a few from that album (one of my favorites). For the sound of Darkness you could put two different hi hats panned left and right with different delays to get that double tracked hat patten Copeland did.

There are a few Police sounds that I'd have. That bowed bass sound you hear in Don't Stand So Close to me would be a good one (Young teacher, the subject). The piano for Everylittle thing could have an octave layer on it so you can do that ending riff by turning up a controller to get more of the octave (this'll make it a lot easier to play!!!! I've tried to play that riff with octaves on my right hand and it's tough!). A bunch of Andy Summers guitar sounds... but the good old Tama kit, SC snare and Octabons will get you far from Walking on the Moon all the way to Synchronicity.

I has alway been a glad user of Sonic Synth 1 and that`s why I am a big fan of Sonic Reality.

I am very interested in Studiophonik, but there is one thing I am a little concerned about: "playing realism".

An example: When you hear the mp3-demo of the vienna horizon saxophone, then it primarily does not sound very special. BUT: When you turn ON the legato tool, then WHOHOWHOOOOOO..... AMAZING!!!! What a realism in the transition between samples! Unbelievable! Its like someone is really playing a sax!
It blows your mind away!

So, to close the circle of my initial question: Is there any chance that Studiophonik will have something comparable that will enhance the "feeling of realistically played instruments"? I know, its nice to have all the basic samples from mucho cool instruments, guitars etc - worksation-like. But it would be even cooler to have at least 1-2 instruments from each section which one can play like it is "live", and not so "MIDI-ish".

If STUDIOPHONIK would have sth like that, than I would buy it, whatever it would cost.

Best regards
Okay. There are a variety of things in the programming that help to achieve realism and timbral variety in the performance. Some things are different than how other products do it. I'll be able to go into more detail about different performance abilities of specific sounds when it is closer to release. There will be some things that will blow you away. That much I can tell you.

I will also say this. These IK/SR modules are based on SampleTank 2. One of the good things about them is that they are strong products that "suggest" certain things to do (things to add to it to enhance its capabilities). This affects SampleTank 2 as well since the goal is to keep these modules all compatible with ST2 so you have flexible options of using multiple module's sounds under one interface (something some other companies that make sound module plug-ins don't offer). So, if we were to add something for Sonik Synth 2 or Studiophonik that may make its way to SampleTank 2 as well thus making the whole system grow in a variety of directions to suit different instrument performance capabilities.

Kick ass, I wasn't expecting you to take me seriously!

:hihi:

Now if you can do that, my next request is a combi set capturing Sabbath on the Sabotage LP..

Part of the fun of Studiophonik will also be using the available tools to make your own virtual Black Sabbath or other band. This is because you'll have a ton of guitars and drums to call up such as Strats, Teles, SGs, ES335, Les Pauls, Flying Vs, Gretsch Hollow Bodies, Rickys... and the list goes on for guitars but then there's drums!!!! Pearl, Tama, Gretsch, Ludwig, Noble, Yamaha, DW, Fibes, Rogers, Slingerland, Premier... then you call up hundreds of amp combinations, vintage tube compressors, phasers, flangers, distortion, overdrive etc. all to shape your sound similar to the way an instrument in the studio would be processed to get a certain band's (or even a certain album's or certain song's) sound.

This product kind of puts you in the producer chair with ideal options immediately available. To be honest, I was inspired by producers like Jack Joselph Puig who have produced albums for Jellyfish, Black Crowes and many others. His style is to have an absurd amount of beautiful instruments all over the studio (many of them rare and expensive) that you just drool over. You get a simulation of that to a certain extent with Studiophonik. The ability to pick and choose different brand instrument and match them with different combinations of layers and processing.

It's also good because while it is an engineer/producer's piece it is also for a songwriter or performer who doesn't necessarily want to fiddle around with EQs, compression and console mixing type stuff but DOES want the results of of that kind of engineering done to the sound. This is taking FULL advantage of the engine that offers all of the high end processing you get from other IK products (both current and future ones :o ). This part I love. The idea of having "produced" sounds right out of the box but you have the flexibility to dial back or change if you wanted or needed to.

Oh no! You can't just drop that and not elaborate! No!

Forever,

You know I can't elaborate. But, I can at least say that ST2 borrows from things like AT & TR in the DSP as well as from future products that have been in development. In fact, that is one of the things I love about IK. They have diverse talents in instrument and effect software, modeling, engineering and the way this is integrated into the SampleTank 2 evolution is really cool. I mean, some people can think the parametric EQ in ST2 is "just an eq" effect that they might miss (like you would in most keyboards when the EQ is nothing special) but this one is like using a REALLY nice analog EQ!!! People can spend quite a bit for one channel of that in hardware! If that 10 stage phaser was in hardware it would cost as much as SampleTank 2 or more! I appreciate that stuff because I used to pay a lot to have Moog Phasers and Pultecs/Tubetechs, Summits, Manley etc. It's not that I wouldn't still but... I like having quality processors and their settings saved WITH my sound (not even just as plug-ins with my song... I have TR and UAD for that. But, when you want it as 'part of the sound' so you can call it up and play it anywhere with that sound you produced).

Post

I'm really looking forward to seeing this thing.

That's all, folks.

hurry up, & release it already!
