I have a number of plugins and never had performance problems in FLS.

Like the man said download the demo and see for yourself. You can't just say "how many vsts" will a host run. It depends on what vsts. They all have different cpu demands. You mentioned Vanguard in your other post. It can eat a fair amount of cpu depending on the number of notes played and the patch used(but it also has a huge fat sound I love). Using the "Fat" knob is like adding more osc's so naturally that will use more cpu, having long release times on the amp envelope will create cpu demand in any synth as will adding effects and so on. For example I can get 4 instances of Synth1 layered together and hardly break the 20% cpu demand level but I also have synths which I won't name out of respect for the developers that can take my P4 2.53 to 70% with a single instance. Hope this helps and again try the FL Studio demo. There are other considerations as well. Will you like the workflow and feature set of FL Studio? Some love it(I do) and some don't. There's only one way to find out if it's right for you-try the demo. Even if you decide FL Studio is not right for you as a host you can still use the demo to create loops and export them as .wave files to be used in other hosts so it's worth the download.
