Thx a lot guys! I really need to take a class in harmony!!!! I want to understand it.

So far i understand you need to know this am i correct?

Which notes are played then you should be able to define the scale and key?

Is the key e.g. the first bass notes or how do you find it out?
If you got a scale you can still change within it the cords do you? But you cannot switch from scale minor e to scale minor x of another chord can you?

So a typical pop song is normally in one scale afaik?

Not necessarily. Lots of pop music has a key change.
