That "Impossible to record audio because the audio input is not active" message

hi,I've been trying to set up Akai's MPC DAW software on my Windows 10 PC. I don't have an MPC but according to the blurb I can use any MIDI controller.

When I try and set up the audio I get the message

"Impossible to record audio because the audio input is not active. Open the ASIO DirectX Full Duplex Setup dialog. Make sure that a device is selected in the input ports section and that it's check box is activated."

I've set the driver as ASIO type and Soundcraft USB audio. I've opened up the Soundraft USB Audio Control Centre and there is very little that can be fiddled with and certainly no boxes to check.

It's odd because I have both Cubase 10 and Bitwig working fine using the same settings (but not running at the same time).

I think I had something similar trying to record audio into Emulator X running as a standalone. That was when I was using my Scarlett as the audio interface.

I've seen plenty of questions on the net about this - none seem to give a proper answer.
