Me too - I assumed it didn't install Pace because of this. Maybe it does if you register? Hope I'm not infected ayway - I might have to take back my comments about it being a good demo if it does nasty stuff like that without even warning you or asking.

It does seem to install Pace.. it even comes up with a 'continue or register' 30-day PACE trial screen when the plugin is selected in the host..

okay that's not so good.... but I had plug-ins without PACE crashing my system back in the days...

nowadays nothing seems to crash mine strangely...

well I have this Verb now and I wouldn't wanna trade it in for anything... Pace or not it stays here with me

it simply sounds awesome

okay that's not so good.... but I had plug-ins without PACE crashing my system back in the days...

nowadays nothing seems to crash mine strangely...

My system is pretty stable the majority of the time. When it was crashing, the file it was crashing on was the ILok driver, and I wasn't even using PACE plugins at that moment either.

they felt left alone....

so is PACE and iLok the same.... I thought iLok was the USB Dongle thingy where you could store PACE registrations.....

but without this USB Dongle is there a driver installed by the software.... can a dll install a driver when executed thru the host ????

check HKEY_Current_User under regedit

then go to Software>PACE AntiPiracy

if you see that.. then its there

2. How does this reverb compare to other reverbs? What are its strengths and weaknesses - sort of afraid to try it considering the PACE

Crap indeed - I'm editing my first post about user friendly demo's.

Still it does sound nice but this is unacceptable not even to inform users of what it is doing - grounds for a lawsuit even?

I was just about to test this too, and although I've never had any PACE problems (touch wood!), I do not think it's acceptable to install PACE surreptitiously like this.

So I took a look at the dll in Notepad. There's not only references to the PACE registry keys in there, but there's also a signed certificate included in the dll so that the PACE device driver will install automatically (even if you've told Windows to only install signed drivers) - cunning, but very, very nasty.

Since it's installing something you're not explicitly asking for (unlike, say, Waves which at least tells you what it's doing), it probably falls under the same remit as Spyware/Adware and is verging on being illegal.

would it be possible to label plugs in kvr database which interfere with end user's systems in unwanted way without informing - with a label *DANGER!* and a brief description WHAT will happen if it is instantiated on user's system?

synthedit plugs are labeled, why not label such ones?
