Is there a MIDI parameter to control octave playback on Impulse 25 in Ableton Live?

Hello Everyone,

I have been tryin to figure out how to set up a dummy clip to set the octave playback of a certain patch in a U-he synth at "-3" on the Impulse 25 from the start. I tried to map it into Live, but the octave selection switch does not see to get recognized by Live. Novation support had no info for me and suggested I get a hold of Ableton to ask them how to do this?! It has now been 2 days and still no response from Ableton, so I am trying here to see if I can get some insights into this.

Is there a MIDI CC assignment for this? I can't seem to find it. Any thoughts or suggestions?

Thank you for your time, I hope all is well.

Maybe: Ableton Live -> Midi Effects -> Pitch?

Hello raintalk,

Right, had not thought of that. I was more focused on the controller. I will give that a try.

Thank you for the suggestion. I appreciate the help.

Couldn't you make a midi clip at the right octave and use that? Sorry if I misunderstand what you're trying to do.

No, I am trying to just load the VI Synth and be able to play it live at the right octave immediately. I am not using it to play back pre recorded MIDI tracks.

Basically I am creating "dummy" clips in Live to set my program and playing state changes to the synth on the fly during a performance.

This particular patch needs to have the mod wheel at a specific spot, and the octave needs to be down -3 on my controller to make it all sound correctly. I can set the mod wheel with an envelop and that works great. I cannot seem to find a way to get the octave up and down commands available to allow me to map those parameters in Live... They are there somewhere, or else the controller would not work, right? Just can"t seem to find them...

Make sense?

Makes no sense...

Octave transpose is not sent from a controller. It just sends either midi note 0 or 12 or 24 or 36 or 48 etc etc when its C0 is pressed.

Maybe indeed try a midi fx plugin that simply transposes.

Understood (now). I just wanted to report back that this did indeed work: I used the MIDI transpose/shift tool to get the controller to play where I wanted to when launched. Thank you for the info and help.
