Looks like they ran both out of cash and ideas at the same time...

If you buy a new V11 plugin you can still install the V10 version (and even V9 if you like).Niowiad wrote: Mon Oct 28, 2019 10:33 pmI have several plugins in the Waves wishlist but if I buy anything more, that comes with V11 and would bring the multiple version headache.
I'll cling to V10 for as much as I possibly can, which literally means I can't buy further Waves plugins
You need to grab the V10 offline installer to do this. The V11 FAQ on the Waves site covers this.

Thanks for the hint. I went through the FAQ and it looks like this time they made it a little easier.sprnva wrote: Mon Oct 28, 2019 11:23 pmIf you buy a new V11 plugin you can still install the V10 version (and even V9 if you like).Niowiad wrote: Mon Oct 28, 2019 10:33 pmI have several plugins in the Waves wishlist but if I buy anything more, that comes with V11 and would bring the multiple version headache.

I assumed it was like last year with the old V9 stuff but it looks like the new WavesCentral at least regularly manages both V10 and V11.
- V11 and V10 licenses will show under this list and can be installed.
Your V9 licenses will not show on the Install Products page.
- V9 software can be installed only using dedicated offline installers, available with instructions on the V9 Legacy Downloads page.
- V10 software can be installed either online or by using dedicated offline installers, available with instructions on the V10 Legacy Downloads page.
On another note... the Release Note mentions "Improved: Smoother plugin controls movement with the mouse", I wonder if they're also referring to the Puigtec which I like as an EQ but has the worst response for the knobs with the mouse I've ever seen anywhere in the entire software realm.

Well after installing Waves Central V11, installing all licensed plugins, and many are in WUP, not one is V11 , so wtf was the point, well done Waves.

WavesCentral should just show V10 and V11 in their current status.LeVzi wrote: Tue Oct 29, 2019 12:21 am Well after installing Waves Central V11, installing all licensed plugins, and many are in WUP, not one is V11 , so wtf was the point, well done Waves.
The upgrade to V11 for each plugin is done from the website

i had to quit and relaunch Waves Central then the installs showed up as V11. but initially had the same issue as you. I don't have a ton of waves plugs but on initial launch and fresh install of waves central they still said V10. after i relaunched it was fine though.LeVzi wrote: Tue Oct 29, 2019 12:21 am Well after installing Waves Central V11, installing all licensed plugins, and many are in WUP, not one is V11 , so wtf was the point, well done Waves.
i haven't used any V11 plugs yet.. working on other things. per the version changes list it seems like mostly GUI updates, bugs and compatibility and efficiency are the focus of the updates on the plug ins i own which are mostly older things. my WUP is current or i'd have skipped it. not Catalina in my life so less worried about things breaking.
edit: i did also click through the "get latest version" prompts on the waves site so perhaps that clicked things through in waves central

According to the release notes this is comprised of a reskin for a subset of plugins, fixes, presets, and a smattering of 'improvements'. I am baffled they decided this warranted a major version bump.

Yeah thanks, it was all done through the website first, then updates via WC.
Soon see what it all looks like now once its updated.
Provided I still got all my plugins working, im happy. I do love the waves plugins, I just hate this WUP crap.

Despite waves saying only win10 is 'supported' by v11, it seems everything works just fine on win7x64 - I removed all my old v9/v10 waves stuff then clean install v11 and reactivated, and everything I've tried runs just fine. Presumably it just means waves are only testing on win10, so of course this does mean a future update could break win7 compatibility at any time (kind of like fxpansion cypher/cubase et al)
Note for people upgrading - in the new v11 waves central you want to not only tell it to uninstall all the old versions, but also to clear the caches, as otherwise you'll have about 4gb of old v9/v10 installers sitting eating up disk for no reason

Since I couldn't get Waves Bass Fingers to show up in Bitwig 2.4.3 and Waves support told me they only offer support for Bitwig 2.5+ (there's another case where I was told I didn't have to update if I didn't want to), decided to try updating it to W11. (Since their FAQ claims you can't have W10 and W11 versions of the same plugin installed, and you can't uninstall one W10 plugin without uninstalling all of them, I was worried that on reinstall they'd all stop working. But apparently not. The reinstall of Bass Fingers also didn't take long----apparently uninstall didn't delete the sample files on my secondary drive, since I didn't bother reinstalling Grand Rhapsody and its samples are still there. Now Bass Fingers shows up in Bitwig.

Only 1 year unless but you can extend longer to have all your plugins expire at the same datezvenx wrote: Mon Oct 28, 2019 4:30 pm Although, doesn't wup last for 3 years so anyone who updated for v10 should still have valid wup's and get v11 free, no?
