authorisation problem with new plugin

hi, not exactly new here but i've been away from computer based music for a while now
So i am back to purchasing a few vst's and mostly it has been good but in a couple of instances where the new plugin needs to go online to authorise the serial number i've put in i keep getting a "failed to connect to server" message.. i've tried everything i could think of relating to turning off firewall/protection but still no luck, and i've checked-internet is working fine.. things like waves central and ilok are working fine, just when a plugin wants to connect it's no go..
i'm on a windows 7 sp1 computer (yes i know a bit old)
any assistance is very appreciated

Maybe their website is down. This sounds like the same issue I had with a UAD-1 card I bought used.. until I realized UAD no longer supported plugin registration and upgrades from their website. They simply shut it down, so when trying to get certain plugins to work, I would get the same type of server errors. I guess the question would then be, who's the plugin developer..
