AdvancedFollower wrote: Thu Oct 31, 2019 9:26 am Same here, I upgraded the plugins which were still under WUP to V11 via the website, and left the expired ones at V10. I installed the latest Waves Central and within a minuter or two, it had automatically removed the V10 versions of the updated plugins and installed the V11 versions, while leaving the remaining V10 plugins completely intact and functional.
My experience was a bit different. I acquired the Metafilter freebie awhile ago, but never installed/registered it. Figured this would be a good time to do it, so I installed Waves Central, and off I go. Piece of cake.

Except...all my other plugs [30 or so including a few signature bundles] are V. 9. Waves Central deleted them all with the Metafilter installation. So...re-downloaded V.9 and then used the Waves Central offline protocol to re-install my plugs from the V. 9 list. A PITA to be sure, but everything went smoothly. All my plugs are now back in my DAW, and I don't see a need to update/upgrade. Yet.

So many plugins, so little time...

Also, I highly doubt that Waves WUP policy is compliant with European Union (biggest market for Waves) consumer regulations! They would clearly lose if the matter became subject to legal scrutiny!
You don't have to renew WUP indeed. It's necessary only in certain cases. But then again, literally every developer asks you to pay for upgrades.
Now you're just lying. "literally every developer asks you to pay for upgrades" - incorrect. There are so many examples of devs that don't ask for paid upgrades...
Pretty much every developer will ask you to pay for version upgrade. There's obviously exceptions but generally the statement is still true. Usually the upgrade price is also significantly higher than paying WUP. Most companies have upgrade prices ranging from 29$ to 49$.

Well, that's only when there is an actual change to the plugin. As has been noted here, the Waves Ren plugs have a new skin. The rest of the plugs are exactly the same (as I understand it) EXCEPT that there may be some IOS compatibility issues. I can't recall any upgrade fees for any of my plugs when things went from x32 to x64. Waves keeps talking about compatibility. But if this is the only reason to update, I think the complainers have a point.

Aloysius wrote: Thu Oct 31, 2019 10:51 am Had to resort to the offline installer because my download kept getting choked at 1 or 2%.

1. Made sure Waves Central was up to date.
2. Went to the Offline Installer Tab in Waves Central and browsed for Waves - 28.10.19.
3. Crucially, the Offline Installation Folder I had downloaded needed to be placed directly on the Desktop and not within another Folder on the Desktop. C:\Users\Aloysius\Desktop\Waves - 28.10.19
Did you try simply waiting it out? Mine also froze at 1% for a long time, then completed the remaining 99% very quickly. If you have a lot of plugins I imagine the freeze could last longer.
A couple of days was enough time imho. :)

Actually, unlike with V10, this time the release notes are quite long with fixes and improvements overall (like faster loading of plugins, additional presets etc). That said, it's still not that appealing that I would want to upgrade WUP on all my plugins. But I probably will upgrade my RenMaxx bundle.

Some bundles added a plugin. You have to weigh the cost per plugin added since the last WUP and if the plugin is of any use. My WUP is $240.00 for Mercury. The only added plugin since my WUP expired this past April is Submarine and Mushroom. Thus I will wait for a WUP sale.

Wait until you come down off the Mushroom.

You may have duplicates that don't actually 'show', ie, you may have plugin 'x' which you purchased as a single, then later you purchased/upgraded to a Bundle which also contains plugin 'x'. Make sure you aren't selecting any plugs that are 'also' contained in a selected bundle.

Yes that was it. I had duplicate copies of Hybrid Verb and Delay and a couple of others that I don't remember buying outside of the bundles that I had. Thanks for the tip. Much appreciated.

I've just undated Waves Central along with a small amount of plug-ins that I have version 11 licenses.
Unfortunately now when I try to open Bass Fingers (standalone) it opens a box asking me to "Select Waves Bass Fingers Plug-Ins folder".
I have fiddled around looking in the various Waves folders and can find the "Bass Fingers Bundle" but that isn't deep enough for it to open to program.
Any help would be appreciated.

Grum.

Go to ''Settings'' in waves central to see your ''Locations''.

Sample libraries data folder

I don't think it is asking for the sample library folder - I tried that first and it wasn't interested (plus it isn't asking for the location of the samples).

It's ok now - I read the Waves Support pages and I was going too far in finding the plug-in, you stop at the top level V11 folder rather than go into it.
Life is a learning process :D

I had a few problems myself with the upgrade. I learnt a lot. :)
