While it felt weird to me to get free plugins with something as little as a $25 voucher, considering they priced things on sale below that meant they surely knew it would happen. If they consider that "abuse" I find it absurd since they tell you each time the voucher is a gift, didn't know there were strings attached like buying a second plugin you don't want and would never use. And it's radically different from selling and profiting from the voucher, which I do consider abuse of good will. Which could easily have been prevented with a technical and social solution. It would have also stopped voucher giveaways, which surely generated sales and brought in new customers. To pin this all on customers is disingenuous.

So I can't exactly feel sorry for them digging their own holes to attract a customer base that lowered price expectations and created a healthy secondhand market full of regrets (and they know it considering Dirk showcased the used license as the canonical example). How many people outside of their tightly-controlled website and forums are as enthusiastic about the entire portfolio? They're trying to fight market reality. Good luck!

Now I do agree that giving plugins away isn't a good business model and I'm fine with them putting an end to that. But pricing a minimum spend requiring the purchase of at least two plugins is a no-go for me—I don't do buyer's remorse and I find that predatory. There is hardly anything I actually want in their catalog, and most of what I do I already have. I've gone months letting the voucher go because there's nothing worth it to buy except for the "no-brainer" plugins I would not have purchased at a greater price.

A $32 minimum spend for the $25 voucher is way above no-brainer territory. I support them for wanting a minimum margin but I am being real, I don't see myself buying much because this math doesn't work out, and the actual good plugins are far and few between. If there was a standard minimum spend per product regardless of voucher amount that was within frivolous purchase territory then that'd be different.

Anyway, I'm sure we'll see yet another batch of changes when they see the new sales numbers. What other developer/shop requires its own thread to keep track of how they conduct business so regularly?

I think that’s probably the point. Stopping people buying plugins on sale price and then reselling them for a profit.

If you're referring to second-generation transfers becoming NFR, they got rid of that some months ago. A license can be transferred multiple times as long as the $20 fee is paid. With the voucher minimum you can't get free transfers any more.

The only true NFR plugins right now are the free ones.

Other odd scenarios: You can't transfer multiples of a plugin, you must sell all of them together (they effectively become 1 license worth). You can't transfer a previously transferred plugin where the transfer fee hasn't been paid.
