Hi all... There was an old 32 bit freeware plugin called Reese MX, which was a simple "reese" bass generator. I have at least 10 Cubase projects that use this plugin and it's missing, somehow. There is only one file: ReeseMx.dll

If anyone could kindly share it - it would be greatly appreciated. I've scoured the net to no avail. Couple of pages hosted it but all broken links now.

My first time posting but I've lurked for many years. Maybe now I'll join the community more formally. :)

Have you tried waybackmachine?

Open the Plug-in Manger and check the blacklist column. I’m guessing you’ll find it there. As Cubase 10 dispensed with supporting 32 bit plugs, your only hope to run it in C10 would be to see if it can be resurrected with JBridge. Short of that, open your Project file in an earlier Cubase version (like C9 or C8) and export the track as an audio file that you can run it C10. Not optimal..but at least you’d have something to work with...even to the point of matching the sound with Retrologue as a substitute for the bass track VST. Retrologue should have enough features to get close.

Not too familiar with waybackmachine.... How would I search for a file there? Moreover, even if i find a link, won't it be broken (assuming that the link can't be found in CURRENT google searches since it's no longer a working/relevant link?)

I just purchased the ToneBytes yesterday! It's nice.

I'm still using C6 for the 32-bit reason. I dont think C6 has a blacklist that I can see. The FILE itself is definitely missing as I don't see it anywhere on the HDD. Thank you for the reply in any case!!

If you know who made it (need the website URL), Wayback does archive small'ish files. Honestly, Google keeps getting worse over the years, and I wouldn't trust it for searching any non-current websites.

Go here, type in the URL and then start back in on the timeline and hope you get a hit.

Or you could try the broken links in the waybackmachine and maybe it archived the download.

Different but same type of plugin indeed.

I don't know who made it, or any original URLs. Frustrating.

Unfortunately, the link to the VSTi is broken :(

almost any synth can do it, starting with an initial preset saw it takes mostly 20 seconds to have a decent startpoint.

ReeseMX.dll pops up as being on this site:

http://freewarewiki.com/w/page/14937666/VstPluginLinks

I couldn't find it as the list of plugins is a mile long. I can't vouch for this site but it does look like all freeware and not warez although I didn't check the whole list.

I'd exercise caution when clicking on any of the links and I have no idea if they are still active links or not but there must be hundreds of links to old plugins. Might be a gold mine or totally worthless.

Yes most likely, but there is a chance though

The link seems to be ok. Atleast on my mobile

Yes the main link to the site itself seems to be safe. It's the individual links to the plugins I can't vouch for. They point to tons of different sites.

It looks like a pretty comprehensive list of freeware but I don't know if any of the links are dead or not. I imagine some are dead, some may still be active.

Google says the ReeseMX.dll is there but it could be a dead link. The OP did say "Couple of pages hosted it but all broken links now" so he might have already checked there. Still I thought it worth a mention just in case he can find what he's looking for there and it might be a good resource for those looking for freeware.

I wrote to osirus just now.. Hopefully he helps out!

Thanks to everyone for the help. Great community here.

Surely it's not difficult to create a good Reese however I was in love with that exact plugin - and for each of like a dozen compositions, they were tweaked a little differently. If it cannot be found then yes I'll have to move on. :(
