You should do what, for some reason, not a lot of people in this threads are able to do. Ignore any emotional attachments or detachments to any one technology and make a pragmatic business decision based on evaluating your own development process. If you find that the additional effort is not worth the additional market and/or if you find that you could better assist one part of the market by ending support for the other, then, by all means, please do so.WilliamK wrote: Sat Nov 02, 2019 7:25 pm Following.
BTW: sometimes I wonder if I should keep OSX support.on Wusik it's less than 20%...
Catalina: Apple turns macOS into a closed platform; many audio-devs warned from the upgrade

IMO; the answer to that question is: YES.mgw38 wrote: Sat Nov 02, 2019 9:37 pm... if you find that you could better assist one part of the market by ending support for the other, then, by all means, please do so.WilliamK wrote: Sat Nov 02, 2019 7:25 pm Following.

well, as Urs said, just 3 lines to add.

Oh, those 3 lines.
If in my experience I don't have a problem, then nobody has to have it, and whoever has it is wrong to have it, because for example I don't have it. If you have a problem it's your fault, you should have done as I did and not have it in time. So it's useless to talk about the problem because I don't have it, stop complaining.
Let's talk about my problems as soon as I have one.

Great it worked so nice for you. Urs posted in another thread his new build chain including copy stuff around just for the sake of notarization under Catalina. He also now reported first problems. It's never only 3 lines of codeTB-ProAudio wrote: Sun Nov 03, 2019 2:59 pm well, as Urs said, just 3 lines to add.

Besides that it wasn't the point at all, but people being fed up with the policies and the consequences of those "3 lines".

The idea that a problem requires 3 lines of code, then it will be 3 lines of code for anyone else is so wrong. The idea that being in a different condition from mine is wrong is even more wrong.
Our problems almost never seem like problems for others, but when others have problems they almost never remember ignoring ours.
Of course, in a world where everyone understands only their own problems it is also useless to discuss.

playing devil's advocate here but isn't that pretty much what apple is doing all the time?mgw38 wrote: Sat Nov 02, 2019 9:37 pmYou should do what, for some reason, not a lot of people in this threads are able to do. Never thought if it that way, but yes, that is exactly what they do. It is what any good business needs to do.dayjob wrote: Sun Nov 03, 2019 5:10 pmplaying devil's advocate here but isn't that pretty much what apple is doing all the time?mgw38 wrote: Sat Nov 02, 2019 9:37 pmYou should do what, for some reason, not a lot of people in this threads are able to do. I'm keeping a list of all the developers that are throwing a fit about supporting Apple, so I don't ever buy their software. Not that I don't understand their frustration, but we're getting a peek behind the scenes and seeing who begrudgingly makes AU versions and who are all-in with Apple (seems like u-he, XILS, G-Force, UAD fall into that category). I'm phasing out my use of Melda software because I have equal alternatives and I don't trust that Melda and some of these other companies will continue to support my platform/DAW of choice - Apple Logic.

Yes, please, and then publish that list onto your blog, so Apple may realize what self-destructive behaviour they have.

I'm really not talking about who's right and who's wrong - I'm pissed at Apple too about a number of things. But I still plan to use my beloved Logic Pro as long as possible! I work on Macs and PCs and I vastly prefer Macs...

Apple simply has to add VST to Logic.
