I had no idea that Brian had special software to make Absynth.

"Absynth, released in 2000 by developer Brian Clevinger''s Rhizomatic Software, garnered an immediate cult following as the go-to synth for strangeness, especially in long, evolving sounds."
Personally those "long, evolving sounds."

Rhizomatic Software was the company name, not the special software he used.

Yep, you are right.EvilDragon wrote: ↑Tue Nov 05, 2019 7:11 am Rhizomatic Software was the company name, not the special software he used.
But perhaps rhizomatic philosophical concepts had something to do with the way he produced Absynth.
In any case this is interesting

If I remember correctly he lives in Paris (France) and works at the IRCAM or at the GRM (music labs both founded by Pierre Boulez and Pierre Shaeffer). So I bet that if he releases a new synth it will be a new beast for experimental music.
By the way, all his most recent production made with Absynth were experimental music.

In a podcast some time ago he was talking about getting into modal synthesis. The logo being used also looks like tines or tuning forks. I’m imagining something sonically triangulated with Prism, Kaivo and the AAS suite through a CPU-friendly Absynth lens. If it has IRCAM prices then it’s too rich for my blood.

And in fact, outside the administrative side, they worked together on both. By the way they worked together on many, many works and projects.

So my guess is that the synth announcement will happen this November.Calenberger wrote: ↑Tue Nov 05, 2019 6:57 amEnd of OctoberKalamata Kid wrote: ↑Tue Nov 05, 2019 6:30 am When was "Announcements coming soon." first made public.
The other guess is it will be $149 with a $99 intro price.
Perhaps two synths?
One being Absynth 6?
But more likely one synth with another one on the way.
EvilDragon likely knows but he never violates his NDA.
I respect that.

AFAIK NI legally owns Absynth trademark and IP fully, so, if A6 ever happens, it would only come through NI. I could be wrong though, but I don't think I am.Kalamata Kid wrote: ↑Wed Nov 06, 2019 3:25 amOne being Absynth 6?

Maybe they'll team up again if the stars and marketing droids align.
But there are still ways to expand Absynth, and many people
who have yet to even use it. I've only used presets myself,
but maybe a long monsoon will change that...

In the meantime, Absynth 5.999999 is just a few mouseclicks away,
in a world full of .wav files

Yes, it was. Pierre Boulez was connected to IRCAM not GRMmuki wrote: ↑Tue Nov 05, 2019 4:56 pm > both founded by Pierre Boulez
