Do they still support the elicenser for new purchases? I much prefer using the dongle.

No.

I still have a Largo license rotting on my USB eLicenser, because newer versions use the new authorization method now. :D

I hope you didn't buy the dongle specifically for Largo. That would be money down the toilet.

No. It was a dongle i bought to use Cubase and Wavelab. :)

Which i piece by piece get rid of now though... so, i might not need the eLicenser dongle at all at some point. Hopefully. The only software i still need it for is Wavelab Elements really, and, i maybe boot that up once a year. Oh, and Halion Symphonic Orchestra, which i probably won't be able to replace any time soon...

Why would anyone prefer a dongle over a simple serial. This is not challenge/response.

Post

One thing i could imagine is to not have to keep track of all those serial numbers. ;)

Post

Well, if you use it on the same computer you would never need the serial again after the software was installed. If you want to install it on a new computer you need the installer and If one is able to manage all the installers he/he should be able to likewise manage the serials. I always make a folder on my backup drive where I put the installer and the serial in a text file. I never lost one. What is more, usually there is even an email including it. Just search your email folder for the software title or company you you will find it (if not: there is probably the option to contact the seller).

I hope they go iLok.
This is the same method MJ used when he was working on Anthony Marinelli's Thriller.

Just use a password manager - most have the ability to store software licences. And/or keep receipts in a folder in your email software.

Post

Yeah, i'm doing that and what AKJ pointed out, save the serials as text files in the plugin's folder on my external backup drive, and, when it's possible, keep the receipts, or license emails.

Just wanted to point out that it's a downside of the serial system, in comparison to a USB dongle (or licensing software). :)

Create a free gmail or yahoo email account, and FORWARD the emails with the serial numbers.
I've been doing this for years to archive important emails, etc.
Then you can create folders in the email account ie, waldorf, arturia, income tax returns, wills, etc.
