Are Windows based computers for “bedroom” music makers only?
This is one of the dumbest topics that I've seen on a forum in years...

Well done.
I will take the Lord's name in vain, whenever I want. Hail Satan! And his little goblins too.

Windows is more "open" and flexible which brings lots of system and compatibility issues.
Mac is pretty much a "closed" plug and play environment which is why most professionals use it.
Windows sounds better! Especially if you use Fruity Loops and Soundgoodizer!

Mac sounds more better when you use with beats headphone :uhuhuh:

I will guarantee you that 90% or more of those Mac using "pros" have never even considered which platform might be better. They learned on a Mac so they use a Mac. Being a pro musician or producer doesn't make you an IT pro. Quite the opposite, those kinds of people usually rely on someone else to sort all that shit out for them. Given that, I wouldn't see their choice of platform as being an informed choice at all.
Passing Bye wrote: Sun Nov 03, 2019 6:51 pmMajority of actual professionals doesn't, their job is music and their studio machine (which isn't in the same place as their bedroom) is just for that, their smartphones, laptops, tablets are for networking and their home computers are for relaxing, actual bedroom producers have one computer for everything.
Rubbish. Most pros, as in people who do music full time, don't earn enough money to have more than one computer. It is a tiny percentage of people at the top of the profession who make good money, everyone else fights over scraps.

Making the decision to go full-time is a really big call. I used to think it would be great to be able to do music all day and all night if I wanted to but, having toured with plenty of bands who do it full-time, my overwhelming impression is that it's a miserable grind. These are not happy people. They are people who can't say no to anything, because they always need the money, so they prostitute themselves and their talent just to keep a roof over their head and food in the fridge.
Passing Bye wrote: Sun Nov 03, 2019 7:59 pmThey can do that on every device, one don't need to use his working machine for that or those activities should influence the choice of ones working machine which main purpose is to serve one while he's making a living for himself and his loved ones.
If you are sitting in front of your workstation, you are going to use it to check your email, surf the 'net to find some new cables (or to argue with clueless idiots at KVR) and to place your on line grocery order for delivery. If you like photography, you'll use your workstation for that, too. Nobody is working on a music computer that isn't on line and if it's on line you will use of everything. It's just common sense.

But still, you can do all that with any device, you buy your workstation for music work.

No, I buy a workstation for doing motion graphics. It manages audio without breaking a sweat.

I ran a recording studio for 10 years on windows...
the main reason to use Macs is either (a) personal preference for the OS or (b) ... oh. Nope that's it.

[Edit: oh that's right logic audio only runs on mac as of ver6 too]

Bottom line is Macs don’t crash as much in live situations.
No pro live performing muso will take a risk of doing a show with windows based setup
