Just saw this at www.extranslator.com :

”Extreme Sample Converter 2005 announced.

- Completely new interface.

- Working in VSTi, DXi and standalone mode.

- Full editing functions.

- SampleWire mode for connecting converter with other samplers in real-time. A full SDK for developers who wants to join and support this idea will be introduced soon.”

For only 40 Euro. :o Looks like a bargain, if it works fairly flawlessly! The equation I'm looking at right now:

many formats-->ESX-->SF2, or soon Wusik SND and rgc:sfz

Seems like a good way to be able to buy a wide variety of libraries without owning all that software. Since it converts to SF2, you can use freeware, even.

Greg
the earliest versions worked very well, with quick support

Holy cow!

sfz compatibility! Marvellous. Wonder whether that will be in EXSC2 as well as EXSC2005?

But where does it state that the new version is 40 euro? I only see a price for EXSC2 (which I already own). Hope the new version will be favourably priced for existing owners, or at least, as competitive as EXSC2 was in terms of price (hell, EXSC2 was a steal).
Music with dinner is an insult both to the cook and the violinist.

Looks cool, and quite a bit cheaper than Awave.
Gonna try the demo.

Absolutely. Combine a freeware sample player like sfz (which can stream from hard disk) with ESC2 and you have a very nice sample-playback setup for $40.

I’d really like to know more about that SampleWire thingy – it sounds very intriguing.

Does anyone know if this is a free upgrade from 2.x ?

Thanks.

Hrm, I just went to the "purchase" page and assumed that the price was for 2005 of whatever the most recent incarnation is. Hopefully the pricing will remain the same.

Thank you for the heads up on this. I also think it looks very interesting. Though I didn't understand much of the formats graph. Will it be able to convert Akai, EXS, Giga and Kontakt to Halion?

Post

Each format on the graph has an arrow attached to it. If there is an arrowhead on both ends, it can convert To and From the format. If it only has an arrowhead on the 'exs' side, it can only convert FROM the format.

Therefore, according to the chart-- no, you cannot convert TO Halion.

Oh, I see

then it must mean that Gigasampler and Akai S5000-S6000 do translate correctly to Halion format.
