Hi there,
I'm trying to install an old version of Sony Sound Forge [v4.5] from an external Samsung CD drive on a MacBookPro 10.11 using Wine.
No problem with Wine since the setup program from the CD launched perfectly, but a Windows-like pop-up says that "Unable to install the software. The software is not being installed from the original CD-ROM".
But it is not true. I've bought it in 2000 and the CD-ROM I'm using is absolutely the original one.
Can there be a reading error or compatibility with the CD player? Any suggestions to overcome the problem?

You are probably out of luck. Sony was using a form of copy protection that relied on hidden info on the CD that is not readable in Wine, since it requires lower-level access to the CD hardware to read it.

Try a newer version. Sound Forge 7 worked well for me, I think, in WINE. Version 9 won’t authorize some of the built-in native plugins after install (the ones that used to be extra cost in prior versions), despite them being included in the v9 installer.
