Las Vegas Nightclub KAOS Is Closing, One Month After Dropping Marshmello’s $60 Million Deal
The Palms hotel’s high-profile nightclub, which lined up performers like Marshmello and Cardi B, cited “challenging” talent fees as its reason for closure
In the span of six months, Las Vegas nightclub KAOS signed DJ Marshmello to an unprecedented $60 million two-year residency, abruptly dropped the deal, and then, on Tuesday, announced it would be shuttering entirely.

Even if the piano player can't play, keep the party going.

Re: $60 Million for a DJ?
Have you never seen that list of the best paid DJ's in the world? It's insane how much some of them are earning in year.
Here's a more current list: https://variety.com/2019/music/news/cha ... 203283084/
Actually, i've seen higher figures, i think it must have been about 10 years ago that i've seen such a list. Maybe they don't earn quite that much anymore.

Re: $60 Million for a DJ?
its not fiscally responsible to pay them the known amount, but also isn't fiscally responsible to both express their true earnings and to express their earnings as less than their poorest customer.

Re: $60 Million for a DJ?
I hadn't even heard of him until now. After looking at youtube, he seems to be an extremely popular poptrap artist that wears a giant marshmallow looking can on his head similar to daft punk and deadmouse. Over 1.5 billion views on one song I saw. I see he is also somehow tied to Fortnite and some other youthy stuff? Astounding there is so much money in the teen to 20s market today.mumpcake wrote: ↑Sat Nov 09, 2019 2:49 pmhttps://www.rollingstone.com/music/musi ... lo-908587/

Guess I'm old.. Daft Punk Homework was new when I was a teenager. Hard to think if I was a teenager now that Marshmello would be my thing.

An autoplay video on that website was talking about assistants in the entertainment industry in LA typically working 60-hour weeks for minimum wage, right next to the quote about Steve Aoki averaging six figures in one night.
Celebrity worship sucks.

The big industry isn't about music, it's all about promotion. If you can promote the biggest star, you will get the profits from biggest festivals.

Re: $60 Million for a DJ?
It'd be an awesome scam... hire a couple of unknown DJs for $100,000 a year to fulfill your $60 million contract.

Re: $60 Million for a DJ?
Though I guess it's not much different from the times I saw "the" Blue Man Group... on a US tour while also performing in NY and Vegas and Chicago and Orlando and Berlin on the same night...

Yes it could be Dread Pirate Robert's operation. I do wonder if anyone could tell.

The "Palms" is an idiotic casino that has been trying to be a big shot since forever. It's not still owned by the "alloofs" ??? Is it?

Re: $60 Million for a DJ?
Have been to vegas several times and have literally never heard of this hotel lmao. Had to look it up. “Ooohh, it’s on THAT side of the freeway.” I wonder how much the people who run that hotel get paid. Pay me 200k a year, and I’ll give absolutely great advice like “no one gives a shit about anything on the west side of the I15. Pay this headliner less.”
