.5 upgrades aren't free. If you've upgraded from any version to Cubase 10 in the past 3 weeks, then you'll get 10.5 for free.

Ofcourse that's assuming 10.5 gets released in a few days.

It's not likely. It's Steinberg's business model to charge for a .5 release to fix the stuff that should have been working the last time you gave them money.
Well, no, not really. Most of the .5 upgrades featured a lot of new stuff.

Did you know that you don't have to buy software if you don't want to?

I do, but when I do buy it, I expect it to work as advertised. That's fair enough, surely?

Post

I can't get on the website or the forums.

You'll surely do. IF they stick with their release cycle. :) (Now imagine they will release 10.5 end of next year... :D)
End of next year would be brutal

It's looking good though, their website is still down :tu:

Sure. What's not working for you?

They can't add a product page without turning their site off?

HiDPI for one. The randomly small titlebar menu is another. I expect these will be addressed with 10.5, now they've finally ditched Windows 7 support, but man it's annoying to have to pay for it.

You can keep your update code for as long as you need. So you don't update until the new one is out.

Voila, 2 versions for the price of one. And if you buy your code in their annual half price sale you find cubase is not an expensive DAW to maintain.
I believe every thread should devolve into character attacks and witch-burning. It really helps the discussion.

Dunno about the latter, but, there is a article in the help section of Steinberg's website regarding the HiDPI support: https://helpcenter.steinberg.de/hc/en-u ... Windows-10

Thanks, yeah been through that. It's basically a poor implementation in 10.0, which really should not have been released when it was. I know HiDPI in Windows is problematic, and that the HiDPI support provided by the development framework that's used to develop Cubase was apparently also not great, but Steinberg really should have held back on that feature until it was ready.

I keep expecting them to close this loophole. So don't tell anyone 🤔
