The Roland V-Synth: Why so underappreciated?

Weirdly, I haven’t noticed the “depth” control do anything at all. I’ll have to see if turning it down has any impact on the samples with which I’ve had difficulty.

If you are working with rhythmic stuff, the depth parameter controls how sensitive it is to transients and will automatically place slice points at the start of detected transients. I found with non-rhythmic stuff, it will still try to place slice points, so there may be one or more at the beginning of the sample. That could explain the glitchy behavior you are hearing (especially if two slice points are very close together). You can set the depth to 0 or just manually delete any slice points in the sample.
My old V-Synth GT lives at my office now, so I gave myself a refresher this morning.

I don't think I've ever seen any slice points added to any of my non-rhythmic samples, at least I don't think I've ever seen them in the sample display. I've messed with the Depth control just to see, and nothing happens.
