Hello!

Need it, besides Waves GEQ Graphic Equalizer (witch I bought, but is not that CPU friendly).
Also know KarmaFX equalizer and Anwida.

Need a serious 32-bits/64-bits VST solution.

BTW, know a 64-bit alternative for:
- Crossover (RS-MET)
- Voxengo Pristine Space
?

Thank you in advance,
Antonio

> Light on CPU
It has to be implemented as 31 nodes. That's a lot of CPU even with the best of optimization.

I don't use this type of eqs but I do use Hornet 31 for the automation, but that's heavier than normal (because of the automation feature). Adds up to about 2 medium reverbs.

Yes 31 parallel biquad filters take some CPU :) we do our best to reduce the load (consider that we actually are talking about 62 filters in our ThirtyOne plugin as we also provide a spectrum analyzer with 31 bands)

Many bands + easy on the CPU = ReaEQ.

(If you dont use REAPER (which has it built in) simply get the ReaPlugs package and enjoy it in any host.)

ReaEQ gives you full control over the number of bands, type of each band, bandwidth of each band, etcetera. You can therefore just 'design' the EQ that you need for a given task by adding/removing/tweaking bands as necessary. And since the code is very efficient, CPU consumption will never be an issue either unless perhaps you are running an ancient Pentium machine or something. But with anything halfways recent, no way it will make any problems even using many bands.

IMO ReaEQ is a true go-to equalizer so i can only recommend to try it out and see for yourself.

maxes out with "only" 26 bands, but imho still nice and not too hard on the cpu:

AVA Mastering EQ is very smooth. The interface may not look like it, but it is actually a 31-band graphic EQ. It was being given away recently and will probably have a Black Friday deal.

For frequency crossover, there's 3XOver by Hornet and Gaffel by Klevgränd.

There's a lot of good freeware better than any Waves... ;-)

You did an amazing job with this one. It's well worth the CPU hit.

For the purpose of this conversation, to use it as a static eq, when the analyzer is disabled and the auto-eq is off it seems that Hornet 31 still does some additional processing since CPU doesn't seem to drop much. So to use as a static eq this is probably heavier than it could be. Perhaps something for version 2, the ability to turn it minimalist, or maybe comes with a companion "light" plugin that is completely static.

Thank you all.
I'll just buy a faster computer and stick with the more serious Waves GEQ.
