Tell me if I'm wrong, but I find, generally speaking, that guys who are more into vintage emus are more or less predisposed towards the 3D gui/the realitstic/skeumorphic kind. But guys who favour the modern 'anything goes' synths are into the flatter 'functional' guis...? With some overlap probably.Lotuzia wrote: Tue Nov 19, 2019 11:49 amI also prefer the PolyKB GUI, but one should remember that it's realitstic/skeumorphic GUI got a lot of critics too when it was released. Would I dare to say, having read a lot of comments on various synths UIs/GUIs for years, that a single GUI will never, by definition, please everyone ?HunterKiller wrote: Mon Nov 18, 2019 7:26 amWhile we're on the subject, I always liked most of Xils' GUIs, but they really dropped the ball on the Synthex emus. The gui doesn't look pro, too flat, and boring on both synths. Whoever did the PolyKB did a great job, but if the same person did the Syn'X guis, they need to redo 'em from scratch.
However it's very easy to use it -imho- and it doesn't give eye fatigue.
All in all, compared to the previous version, a lot of things were bettered in the workflow/logic/usability. Yes, there are probably many things that still could be enhanced, and as precise as possible requests are always welcomed.
I've never been attracted just to one or the other, I've favored both functionality and realistic beauty, the problem occurs due to the second qualifier, the mystery aspect of life always required, because everyone' definition of that aspect, in this case "beauty", is quite varying. And the view of what represents optimum functionality itself not uniformly perceived among people, but with far less variance than beauty.
