A lot of first NI synths were licenced to individual coders. Then, created by individual coders based on Reaktor framework. Other than that NI made few synths lately. So, B. hiring a lot of NI ex-employees isn't a guaranty. Other than that, B. trend in HW is mostly borrowing the work made by other legendary companies and re-offering it at the best price. Very few innovations, except for a few models, which might not be their bestsellers anyway. Software is a different world, where innovation is crucial, and possibly more important than producing at low price. It's a different culture imho, and well, if B. wants to vamp this -small- part of the market, they might have to start a new company culture, at least in the departments who are in charge of this. Making a software link for their HW instruments might be another direction also and their real goal. Well, we'll see.

In the software world, Behringer can't really cut costs like they have in hardware manufacturing... but they still have deep pockets and a lot of resources. It'll be interesting to see what they come up with, and there's probably not much point speculating until they have something for sale.

Yep. When they’re doing so well with hardware it’s odd to see the suggestion that they will add software.

Again, the software department will have nothing to do with the hardware department.
But, true, they surely will take some time to develop the first soft synths, if they want to go that route.
