What is your understanding of multi-client ?

What do you want to do ?

If you want to run multiple DAWS at the same time - YES

If you want to run Youtube and play along in a DAW - NO

To do this I use USB speakers to hear Youtube. If someone knows a way to do this using Behringer UMC asio drivers please let us know.

Simultaneous YouTube, MediaMonkey, Sound Forge and Bitwig works fine for me.

Are you on OSX or windows ?

My setup is a new HP desktop running windows 10 1909 and a Behringer UMC204HD.

I can achieve what you describe by using the free "voicemeeter" software.

I have it working now.

Its odd though. I plugged an HDMI cable into my monitor instead of vga and unplugged my additional USB speakers. I then selcted OUT 1-2 Behringer UMC in the taskbar. I now have Cubase and Youtube running together out of the Behringer interface. Wierd.

Anyways, multiclient confirmed here as well.

Maybe it was already discussed in thread, but pc multiclient mainly useful if you need to run multi audio apps simultaneously.

Playing from more than one at the same time, or playing from one and recording to another, etc.

Most apps can be set to release the asio (or other) audio driver when sent to background then auto-reacquire audio when switched to foreground.

Same deal for midi grabbed or released when switched from foreground to background.

Apologies that is probably a captain obvious contribution. Just wanted to put in perspective that even a non multi client will do most of the stuff people typically do running several audio apps, but only using one at a time. The ones in the background can usually be set to gracefully transparently surrender even a non multi client driver. Captain Obvious over and out!

There is contraditory info in the replies.
The user foosnark, for example, shows some pictures the prove that the higher quality models have asio drivers, but he doesn’t say if they are multi client.

Using ASIO4ALL I can include the built in motherboard audio in the mix.

VoiceMeeter is also good, but harder for me to use.

Running Windows 10 here, I bought the Behringer UMC204HD based on your and the other posts that claimed it would be multi-client and I'm testing it with Ableton Live 11 using the ASIO driver and it doesn't seem to support multi-client operation. By contrast, my Native Instruments audio interfaces are all multi-client, so, unless I'm missing something, I think the information provided here is incorrect. Is there a special way to configure this audio interface to unlock its multi-client capabilities?

EDIT: Indeed, there is a way to configure things. If you ensure all clients use the same sample rate multi-client works as expected. While testing I had two clients requesting different sample rates from the audio interface which was causing the issue. I've set everything to 48 kHz and now I'm able to run multiple DAWs and Youtube (etc) without issue. Phew! I'm so glad this worked because I hate returning stuff. It would be nice if manufacturers advertised multi-client interfaces as multi-client. It's such an important feature they are really doing themselves a disfavour by not including this detail in the product specs.
