i bought VM for $71, which now is a high price... the psp modular ultimate collection for $70 (all USD) (tip: buy the ultimate collection via jrrship, or VM core + drums, if there is no discount in the cart try "GROUP" or "FORUM", both will work, or sometimes not, and GROUP is most of the times the nicest price). i bought more bundles, and some modules, the latest the Zerooscillator bundle, which is quite nice... so when i add it up; the one year bundle, with discount because i owned already some modules ($65), the andrew macauly's ultimate bundle (intro price), hetrick cv volume 1, the drift pack. mmmh, it still a lot of money (the seperate modules i bought from cherry audio, i can't see quickly how much they have cost me, before the one year pack...).

and owning softube modular, with all the modular specific modules (and the tsar-1r reverb, and tube delay), even buchla 296e... (which is a great module), reaktor 6.3 with all toybox blocks and all the UA euroreakt blocks.

and finally getting along with VCV rack, where i choose to buy the VULT bundle for $25..... (i believe that vult bundle including the free bundle is identical to the two vult bundles), and bought 1 module and another bundle..

it is a price you pay, for a lot of potential, and i really use them (to quote arturia...).

and, still not doing a lot with VCV, i like to have 3 modular ecosystems... VM is the most used, then softube modular (first it was the other way around, but it is still close in usage), although reaktor blocks i use more and more. i like them all.

Being able to use the plugin host module is a boon.

So long as you dont need to modulate at audio rate you can load anything
E.g. Use the free Melda Oscillator VST, free oscillator. And its pretty damn good.
I use it and modulate its parameters with VM

Cytomic The Drop is perfect as its sidechain does accept audio rate signals that can be used as modulators.

Speak now if you know of any other windows VSTs that accept external audio rate signals as modulation sources

MRB Laboratory Bundle ...

... is a must in my opinion.

Just purchased it and i am in awe at the sound, the design, and the price.
No wonder, Mark has a long story as a hardware designer, and one can feel it with
those modules.
And the semi modular voice is an awesome beast that also spares you some space and time and allows you to go further in modular complexity, paradoxically, since it is partly "hardwired" (softwired ? lol).
And everything has INs or OUTs, very flexible.
Really guys, it's a dream come true.

For months i passed by the MRB page without really noticing it (good, because i was broke then) and then the need for a velocity able envelope made me put a foot into MRB. And now i have it all, seems like.

Now i am set for a long time and my modular g.a.s has come to an end for quite some time.

Make sounds now ...

Thank you MRB, thank you Cherry Audio for hosting and creating such marvelous toys !

I have the basic system and a few addons, the system is cool, but tbh it still can’t really beat hardware imho. Just sayin.

hey, for someone like me, beats the snot out of hardware that I don't have and am never going to get. . . love VM

Post

Definitely not saying VM is not a viable solution, I only said that in response to someone saying
it can beat costly hardware solutions. I beg to differ is all. Both sides have their merits.
I think they work well together actually, I don't see any reason to bash one side or
the other. :)

We are thrilled to announce the release of the legendary Zeroscillator. The Voltage Modular version of the Zeroscillator is a software clone of Mark Barton's very popular Zeroscillator hardware module he designed in 2005. It was manufactured and sold by Cyndustries in a wide variety of formats. The hardware versions of the mono Zeroscillator module are priced at around $750 and up. There is no polyphonic version of the Zeroscillator hardware module. The Poly Zeroscillator software module only exists here in the digital domain. Had it ever existed in hardware, it would have cost thousands more. Read this fascinating story, from the beginnings of the Zeroscillator module hardware to coming full circle a decade later into the digital domain: https://cherryaudio.com/news/2019-11-20 ... ge-modular

The Zeroscillator Bundle (regularly $35, on sale for only $25 through Dec. 3) includes two modules, a mono version of Zeroscillator ($25 when sold separately) and Poly Zeroscillator ($30 when sold separately). And here's some great news: During Cherry Audio's Black Friday Sale, through December 3, 2019, you can purchase both modules in the Zeroscillator Bundle for only $25!

Happy patching!

Any modular synthesizer can do microtuning if you use an Attenuverter or VCA module to attenuate the CV signal, so that instead of 12 tones per octave, you can achieve many more tones per octave. What would you like to see in a microtuning modules? A selectable number of notes per octave? We'd certainly consider building one!

Dan @ Cherry Audio
You didn't ask me but I'd like to answer anyway. :)
It would be great if it would support scala (.scl or .tun) files, in that way the entire scala database becomes available and as a user you don't have to build the scale from zero.
I also concur that .tun file support would be very nice!

Hi-

I apologize for my ignorance about this but it states that the premiere package is the Core+ Electro Drums but not the Year One collection? Are they two totally different products?

They are two different products. The Year One bundle are all the extra plugins released by Cherry in, well, year one. These are not included in the Core+Electro product.

I am thinking of getting into VM a bit. I currently only have Nucleus. Should I bother upgrading to the full bundle or directly skip to:

PSP Ultimate Bundle
2 Vult bundles
MRB Lab

Maybe, One year collection too.

Am I missing any crucial modules if I skip the the Core+Drums?

I'd dare say so you'll be missing quite a bit without Core, there's quite a few modules in the Core bundle I use all the time. A voltage controlled panner often comes in handy, the plugin host allows you to host your other plugins and have them modulated by modules and put into feedback loops etc (unfortunately no proper delay compensation), the stereo mixers often come in handy (though there's the voltage controlled mono in stereo out with voltage control of pan in the Year one bundle but in Core there's Stereo in stereo out mixers), Super Osc and Super LFO are sweet for keeping things in motion and keeping that motion itself in motion, the sampler I module may not sample but so much fun in a modular setting (completely replaced and surpassed by Sampler II from the Year One bundle), the Super Envelope is nice for long envelopes when times are set to x 10, I personally throw in a Vintage osc or two quite often (has a little drift so sweet when layered etc). There's just a bunch of basic stuff and some with nice character in the Core bundle that you may regret not getting while the price is cheap, unless you're really good with finding workarounds and bending over backwards to have similar functionality from what you've got.

Post

I agree, there are hidden gems in the core bundle, often overshadowed by the lush proposals from third party developers.
For example the super envelope generator, with its curves, it took me two months to notice it ^ ^;

However, two things are especially floating my boat as add on bundles :
the Benard Mini Modules bundle and the MRB laboratory bundle.

Both are space savers.
In the end, many modules proposed at the store can be made with the core bundle, but the real estate becomes a problem, because it takes several modules to recreate.

The Benard Mini Modules are perfect, well thought out (example randomize button on the mini sequencers), and have great features. A bit hard to read without zooming, but that's the consequence of "mini".

The MRB laboratory bundle ? Well, first of all, it sounds glorious, but the seemingly paradoxical "hardwired" "semi-" modular approach not only saves space and time, but with the saved space and INs and OUTs galore, it enables even more modular madness.
Also, only MRB makes a velocity sensitive envelope (again, you can make one with the core module, -amp, envelope, etc..- and save as a cabinet), included in the laboratory bundle.

Besides, the free Vult envelopes are kick ass.

It's all i bought, Core + Electro Drums from the beginning, Mini Bundle a month after, and just this week with the Black Friday sales, the MRB Laboratory.

Plus four bonuses outside bundles, MRB Zeroscillator, Euclidean Duel sequencer by Misfit Audio and the uQuence Seq by Sonobiosis.
And ... the Remote Control from Cherry Audio, it's such a must have that it feels it should be in the Core Bundle.
(But only $15)

Now i feel that i can last for a very long time with this.

I suggest you get the core bundle, get familiar with it, and then demo everything you feel attracted to and think strong if you can't do it already in Core. Also, resist visual temptation, lol, some modules are quite yummy looking ! ^ ^
I've been drooling on some stuff i couldn't afford and that was good because i realized i could do without, with core or just because i don't need it ( I tend to do essentially percussion stuff in modular systems).

Also , like Gonesoft said, you can use VSTs with the plugin host from Core, which means that you probably don't need many effects that you already have.

Be warned - not everything on sale in the store is through to Cyber Monday. Just realised I missed the Ben Davis Collection - was in my cart but went to checkout and it had doubled in price.
