I'd imagine that would be tough to implement. That said, with Arps now layer-specific, it should be much easier now to combine things using more than one instance.

I read on the FB group, there will be no Advent Calendar this year - which I guess is understandable as Manuel said they've been too busy with the update, etc

I see all these black Friday "deals" popping up, and I'm just here waiting to buy the Nexus update w/ some hopefully cheap expansions.

This and even new ones especially for Nexus3!

So is it just layers or can N3 stack presets within itself?

Lack of the damn elicencer is worth the upgrade alone IMO.
I'm actually a big fan of the UI. And I'm sure we will see skins down the road but its easy on the eyes for me. I did like the "hardware rendering" look of the original nexus but this is way more practical.
Faster preset loading and lower CPU usage is icing on the cake, although for me Nexus was always pretty light on the CPU compared to similar sounds out of other instruments.

Avenger took me some time to get into but recently I fell in love with it. Reminds me a lot of Synthmaster. Lots of features but also easy to get a good sound out of it with intuitive options. As much as I would like to see more "under the hood" editing, to me its not the "point" of nexus. However, that new arp looks sexy as heck and would love to see a cloud-user sharing option for different melodies and such.

So true!
...I would like to see more "under the hood" editing, to me its not the "point" of nexus...
I would say, it WASN'T the point of Nexus, but how great it would be if this was to become so, or at least more so! That's what I have hoped for Nexus since my first week with it!!!

The Sequencer possibilities sure look interesting! We shall see...

I wouldn't say "ugly af", but I can't say I like it. I wish it would look more like Nexus 2, but with a vector-based interface. I'm sure different skins will eventually be available...

I have to assume there will be some decent skin options, or at least eventually 3rd party skins that will make it more exciting. I'm not sure I'm a huge fan of the flat look, but I'm also not sure I care all that much about looks.

Sound quality + Features and workflow are my top priority, a nice looking UI is great, but not without the above features first imo.

The UI is a feature and workflow related.

The bigger issue I have is the ratio between width and height.

Nexus 2 was wider than taller which was ideal for modern displays.

This Nexus 3 GUI preview seems more acclimated to 5:4 ratio screens from 15 years ago. It is really tall compared to the previous GUI which means scaling is going to be limited on our 16:9 and 16:10 ratio screens.

You described my main concern about the new GUI, and probably most people concern too.
It definitely needs a "mini mode". Making everything smaller wouldn't be enough, it needs to be shorter too.

A very important observation, that escaped me. I guess I was wrapped up in what the tabs and knobs were saying and, missed the forest for the trees! Yeah that aspect ratio is all wrong! And I initially thought, well sure, I'll be popping that keyboard out of the way, but now I realize, maybe not.

And when looking at the layout as a whole, the knobs seem tiny in relation to the browser and sequencer size. But that overall UI aspect ratio is scary wrong, IMO! Are we supposed to scroll up and down the UI? I don't need the interface to fill the screen, but this a square peg in a very wide hole. Back to being worried!

being a preset oriented plugin, its working with lists, collumns and texts need more heigth instead of width. (same in a DAW... I cant understand people with 21:9 in a music studio. You need HEIGTH not width. I have 30" 16:10 but I would really prefer 4:3, but they are died out obviously). I have seen guys using the Pivot function with two monitors. Clever
But regarding N3, I already have some ideas to get the aspect ratio FREE in the future, so the collums will adapt their width. Then you can have whatever width you want. I would like this very much. N3 wont be stuck on 3.0. Of course there will be many minor free improvements in the near future.
