I don't use Gobbler. I requested demo and received iLok demo code, then I had to sign out of my Softube account and back in again before I found the installer on the My Downloads page. https://www.softube.com/index.php?id=mydownloads

Finally bit the bullet. Love this plugin. I actually dont think its flat out better than sdrr - just do things differently.
There are also other harmonics processors that deal with transients in interesting ways - Melda MPhatik and D16 redoptor come to mind.
But all in all, this is a great plugin.

Are they hoping for a repeat of the success?

It’s actually a very clear question. Softube Tape was their best selling plugin of all time. Are they hoping for a repeat of that success by using a nearly identical GUI design. Softube typically have unique designs for all their plugins, with the exception of plugins which are inspired by the same hardware.

There's some visual similarity with Tape of course, and I suspect there can be functional similarities as well: Tape provides saturation modelling just like Harmonics does. Tape has 3 models to choose from, but the Tape models also include other effects and artifacts introduced by tape machines, tape transport etc. Harmonics has 5 models and I doubt there is much overlap in the saturation modeling but of course there can be some.

What I'm saying is I think there's room for owning BOTH
Especially at today's $49,-

I'd say it's potentially a good replacement option for some one-trick-ponys and worth the shot.

Softube is a weird company, IMO. Their products are coded well and sound good, but there's something missing from all of their plugins: oomph. I base my opinion on several that I own and several that I have demoed. Harmonics is one that I have only demoed. It was not for me.

With Harmonics, I feel it comes up really short. Yes, it sounds good, but definitely not on all material. Also the band it sounds good within is, to me, extremely narrow. The demo video does a great job at selling the plugin, but real-world usage reveals a completely different result; at least for me anyway. Referring to the Spinal Tap scene, the Harmonics plugin needs to go to 11, maybe even higher for crazy, over-the-top results if required...17, 18...20 perhaps. Unfortunately, Harmonics only goes to about 7 on the dial.

I don't do a lot of electronic music, I do a lot of organic instruments but all pads, keys, arps, etc... that I use are always slow-cooked in Softube Harmonics sauce.

in terms of tools used, there's not often too much of a difference in tools used from genre to genre. It comes down to your ears. It's always as simple as that. I like the overall tone and usability of Harmonics, unfortunately I own a billion other saturators and always seem to have bad timing with sales for some reason... but if you don't have a decent saturator yet, and you like the sound of it, I'd say GO!! It's one of the best, so don't worry, it's versatile enough to use it in any genre.

Exactly, it would be my first saturator and it's nice to hear about its versatility (as I was thinking after demoing it). I was torn between Harmonics and Saturn until now but I think I'll get Harmonics since I'm enjoying it more, especially on rhythmic groups and synths. Thank you guys for your fast response!
