Please note that N2 won’t be available anymore after upgrading.
well funny but its the exact opposite for me, i updated the cloud to 1.4 bought new expansions they al work , updated in the cloud from nexus 2 to nexus 3 but it just doesnt generate any new file , so when i try to launch nexus in my maschine software it keeps givin version 2? i tried everything rescanning etc, even if i delete the old nexus.dll and instal the new nexus 3 in cloud verify etc my whole refx nexus is gone from maschine anyone ideas refx support is just been a drama

It's worth it based on "my" expectations. Like anything else it really depends on your expectations. There are plenty of posts here focusing on the disappointments and I think fewer posts from those who, like me, are happy enough with the upgrade and are spending less time here. For me, I didn't like using Nexus2. Now I like using Nexus 3. That was my criteria for upgrading.

Indeed, I did mention this in my mini-review. Since we only have these preset name options, its not like we can get creative or anything, its just boiler-plate identification, which really they should do rather than expecting all their users to do it. Which of course they won't.

Hardly the end of the world, but it feels talismanic of Nexus 3 all round. Everything better, everything easier, but very little thought through to its conclusion. I absolutely don't regret buying - as I say, the second activation makes it worth it on its own, but also there isn't a single thing I miss from Nexus 2 (well maaaaybe plugin loading time). Would I go back? Hell no. So whatever my many misgivings, it is definitely a step in the right direction.

(Is all this a bit nuanced, I wonder? Sorry...)

I just reinstalled the content to a different location and recognized that the Nexus3 factory content also creates an FX presets folder. So I hope that this is already implemented as it used to be but just hidden due to some "wasn't ready for release" yet thingy. I hope this isn't just some historical folder remains from the old expansions.

I'm on a Mac here, I see you're on a PC. I suggest deleting Nexus with reFX Cloud. Then restart your computer, and reinstall version 3 with reFX Cloud.

Just that you know, the new ROM Extension 2 as well as these new expansions exclusively for Nexus3 also create an NKS folder within the Content folder. So the Komplete Control S keyboard on Michael's desk and on the start page of refx.com really seems to tell us that there will be NKS support!

Well I don't think I'll be updating, not unless things improve. Amongst the other ton of issues, the lack of layer naming in the mixer is lazy. The removal of cursor key navigation is criminal! This update really seems like more of the same but worse, which saddens me massively.

I think maybe it's time for me to switch to avenger for my heavy lifting.

You can go up and down but not load with the right cursor key. To load you have to press enter which is cumbersome when you are used to the IK Multimedia (SampleTank, Syntronik), Nexus2 and Avenger loading via cursor keys.

Well that's better than being removed completely I guess. So when you hit the left and right keys, does it change column in the browser? I can see that being a legit reason to change things up in this instance.

Yes, the manual mentions upcoming NKS support.

The audio previews aren't across the board yet, most expansions and the original factory content don't have them it seems, just like the tagging.

Using the arrow keys to preview and enter to load works really well imo, but it would be nice to have a preference to just load the patch right away. I guess the previews are the reason why the behaviour changed (left / right doesn't change columns btw), it should in theory be super-quick to audition this way, but on an SSD its no slouch to load the patches themselves.

No, but you can jump between the search field and the columns via the tab key. The right arrow key has no function, it is passed on to the DAW.

Im new to nexus, I'm looking at expansions, and when I look at the millennium pop xp I see it says
Presets
XP Millennium Pop150 presets
And then the preset names, and below that it says

XP Millennium Pop Singles152 presets

does that mean the xp consists of 302 presets, that its just divided like that or what? Im confused

My thoughts exactly!

Lost:
- Loading presets with the arrow keys: gone
- Effect library: completely gone (huge one!)
- Saving own effect presets: gone (huge one!)
- Locking effect settings including limiter: gone (huge one!)
- Locking modulation settings: gone (how am I supposed to use the new macro controllers? The settings get lost switching to another preset)
- Locking arps and trance gates does need an extra click
- Skins: gone

- Locking effect settings including limiter: gone (huge one!)

Agreed. WTF. I used that all the time to generate new user presets ie. find a great envelope/filter/FX settings, set Lock for them all then load new presets
= instant new sounds.

Ditto the "Locking modulation settings" for the the same reason.

Nope.
Passing on this. I've got enough content in Nexus 2, time to get more creative with it...
plus delve into Omnisphere more.

Yes, exactly. That's an old one. With the Millennium Pop expansions they provide you with the SQs as well as the separate single sounds from within these SQs. With all other expansions (afaik) you have to turn the layers off yourself to get to the single sounds within an SQ.
