Hi - has anyone managed to install a licence on an Ignition Key?

On the Avenger activate licence page, when asked to select a CmContainer, the menu says "No CmContainer found!", but on the Auto-Update page the Select CmContainer menu shows my CmStick (2-1xxxxxx (CmStick).

Am I missing something, or is the Ignition Key not supported?

no. i got the message that my (reason) ignition key was too old. i had to install a new CmContainer on my computer before i could activate the license (and that was so complicated that i can't talk about it without getting angry again )

especially with such a release there should be not only 1 guy like rene... it is also in the it world, you have to have backups

question, the new guitar xps and the mulltiloops function are ONLY looped/arped stuff? im not really interested in playing loops but have also instruments etc. i can play my melodies myself, is it possible with those xps? i only saw loop play.

Thanks, but that is crazy... the CmStick is running the latest version of the software, and is still good enough for the Props... sigh...

Aside from our temporary convoluted registration issues, I think the biggest single problem with the whole Codemeter thing - vs the old system - is that should there be an issue with either Codemeter or Vengeance either on a temporary server downtime basis or (heaven forfend) in the event of company failure, then everyone's plugins will stop working. In the case of bankrupcy, forever.

However, my question to those out there for whom this is a big deal is this - can you point to any major developer for whom this has happened and users were left without their plugins? In the event of bankrupcy these assets tend to get sold on to another company who picks them up, don't they? Maybe there has been some horror stories, I just don't know of any personally.

Most of the issues I know of have been temporary, and that's not to be sneezed at. There was a real horror show at iLok about 4-5 years ago as I recall, over a period of 2 or 3 months many permanent license holders were without authorisation following a disastrous migration to a new system. The irony here is that those who did not launch iLok License Manager were absolutely fine - their permanent licenses were solid on their physical keys, but the moment License Manager was run they were in deep shit. I heard it said that some post houses, faced without any licenses at all, nearly went under as a result of the chaos. This last part could be urban myth, but one can see how debilitating it can be when the tech fails (never mind the wider world examples in banks and airlines where the IT systems crash globally).

On any cloud-based authorisation, this becomes a risk for the consumer. I really don't know what measures developers could or should put in place for this, but I can imagine that it might be possible to code something that can differentiate between a postiive rejection of a license, and a server being down or scrambled. In the case of the latter scenario, it would be possible to code a grace period that lasts until the servers are up again. Only when fully working, having gone through a check and said "license expired" could action be taken. It wouldn't stop all errors, but it would eliminate some. Maybe this is how it works already, I don't know, but these are the kinds of problems of living in our shiny brave new world, and I do understand why some punters are wary.

CP has to be pretty seamless. I remember in the 90s, Cubase had a hardware dongle that made the Atari STs regularly crash. I owned it legally, but ended up sourcing a pirated version that I always used instead of the legal one because it was so much more reliable. Ah, nostalgia.

I also have the reason key and does not recognize it. But I refuse to buy a new one. It is one thing to protect your product and another to make life impossible for your customers.

???? Where ???? Screenshot please, as the 1.2 manual does not really is helpful for this and the VMAN does not exist anymore. So the existing videos does not help either.

EDIT: found it now under "SYS"/content. Would that have been so difficult to add a little textfile to the download or on the registration space ?

These small things that can drive you crazy often really overshadow all the great things coming with the 1.5 update. I really love the Multiloops so far, could not have imagined that they are really that easy to use

So now I have an iLok that works for every (other) VST/VSTi that needs it, an eLicencer solely for Cubase, and an Ignition Key that only works with Reason, and now I have to have a PC based CmContainer with the risk that entails, or buy another CmDongle (good luck finding one). Oh, and a bigger monitor because, yeah...

Not cool.

I will not upgrade to 1.5, i m afraid to lose my licence with the new licence control.I really love avenger, use it A LOT but the fact i can lose my licence with a hd format.it really broke my heart but should i sold it or not ?
I m okay for ilok or elicenser dongle because it is more safe and i had no problem when i clean my setup, i just install the plugin and everything work...

Hm, I thought about it. The requirement of revalidating the license each 3 months really is a no-go also for me. I thought it will be the same as it was with the old license system. So I also would like to stay with 1.410, and for that, it would be good, if you also still had access to the old license system. For example if I will switch the machine, what should I do then? This still is much less frightening than a suddenly blocked plugin for unknown reason. I think this plugin now can be considered as overprotected. You protected it like a military software, but it "only" is a synth. I get that you also want to provide a stable preset platform, that is a valid point.

But can you please think again about that 3-months-revalidation requirement? Could you also remove this, so it was about the same effort like before?

lose your license?? How should that be possible??? You know that there is a support and you can always un-authorize even on another computer

unfortunately this is absolutely necessary.
Atm I dont know, if this is required, when using the Dongle. Maybe there is not revalidation then. Have to ask Rene
