i’ve been there a couple of years ago when i, after hellishly annoying experiences with Tascam and ESI interfaces (instable, crashes, slow), decided to go RME. i bought a fireface ucx which cost me around 1000€, and at the time i was thinking “what am I doing here, buying an interface that is waaay above my station in life/music???”.pljones wrote: Sun Dec 08, 2019 12:36 pm ...
I'd love to be able to justify the cost of an RME interface but my priority is MIDI I/O support and good enough audio... so they've never been worth it. The low latency is tempting, though.
I never regretted it, though. Rock solid, low latency, ultra-flexible mixer software, and considering that - with RME‘s legendary software support - I’ll be able to use it for probably ten to fifteen years, the initial investment doesn’t seem so high anymore. You gotta see it as a long term investment
There’s probably other good interfaces out there, but I’m covered for years to come.
