Well, going from one track about every two weeks for two years to nothing is a bit of a slow down :?

true and erm, I don't have a solution. Have you tried making some folk music or something? :P

I didn't write a song for about 3 years between 1994 and 1997. I couldn't so much as be bothered trying for much of that time and the more I worried about it, the worse it got. I eventually squeezed one out but I never really got back on that horse until I started working with SiK on NOVAkILL. Even now though, I am nowhere near as prolific as I used to be. In the late '80's and early '90's I was writing a dozen good songs a year, many of which are now lost forever after so many hardware upgrades and failing floppy discs. I don't even have decent copies on tape of 20 or so songs that I can recall fragments of.
NOVAkILL : Legion GO, AMD Z1x, 16GB RAM, Win11 | Audient EVO 8 | Lumi Keys | Studio Pro 8
Korg Odyssey, bx-oberhausen, Proxima, PolyMax, GR8, JP6K, Union, Atomika,
Invader 2, Flow Motion, Olga, TRK 01, Thorn, Spire, VG Iron

I'd probably say never. I almost never actually _finish songs_ but I'm constantly starting on new ones and work on them until it's time for the last final touches, that's when they get boring to work on and I start new stuff. I have probably composed around 100 songs per year since I started making music. And hell yeah, a lot of them are lost by now, one old song I made, called "8888", often springs back into my mind and I start humming on that frenetic melody :)

I made plenty of songs on Amiga. I never owned an Amiga, ofcourse those are lost now, same goes for the stuff I made using my own printer port DAC back in the days.

No regrets though.

I was going to start a post to this effect last night. I am hitting a dry spell right now and it is killing me. My problem is, I feel like I am always taking a break. Everyone says, "You are trying to hard. Take some time off." When I come back to start something I am motionless. I know what I want to do but can't translate it into something musical. I feel like giving up. I've stopped buying software and instruments because I don't think more gear will help. I've taken a music theory class and I have looked for inspiration everywhere. I'm doomed.

The biggest inspiration for me is usually clubbing or sounds :) So, if you're having trouble composing shit, go clubbing... :)
