Just a quick piece of information regarding the copy protection...

It *is* challenge/response, even though it's PACE.

It doesn't install anything extra on your machine, it's just a bunch of stuff written to registry.

:)

So it is really safe to try the product. Of course, no installer means those things will be in your registry once you get rid of it (or purchase it... and it sure is worth purchasing). But afair (better make disclaimers from now on ;)), those are application specific enough not to cause any issues. There is 99.99% propability nothing will be disturbed by the registry entries, apart from another PACE protected thing ;) (I'd love to say 100% but registry + flawed copyprotections... we've heard about those :P).

So far, apparently nobody has suffered from the copyprotection? Apart from perhaps some bruised egos on message boards ;)

Of course, there are other similar protections to this, I could contact them with suggestions about this. But the sad fact is that nothing remains uncrackable. The one I'd gladly suggest otherwise (really unintrusive, hard enough for most wannabe crackers to break) seems to suffer from an issue where it's possible to write a general patcher which just resets the demo period timer every time you want...

I've been doing some digging about different copyprotection systems for one project I'm involved in (not an audio product), and all I can really say that it's simply a waste of time if you're trying to affect the "warez" thing in any form. No matter what the manufacturers claim about their protection systems, there is no such thing as a working software-based copyprotection. Anything and everything can and will be cracked. The only somewhat functional systems aren't even a possibility for most software makers and will just cause more grievance and dependencies on uncertain factors and other annoyances relate to using the software (systems based on online authentication, dongle-based systems)...

But let's not get into *that* discussion, please. (Yes, "warez" and associated crap...)

In this light, simple serial would be preferable to c/r. As stated by some software manufacturers, copyprotections mostly stop the casual copying, "borrowing to friends" and so on. It hasn't nor it will stop the rampant piracy. Customers using software that have simple authentication schemes such a serial have been the most satisfied ones when it comes to copyprotections (excluding software that has no similar stuff at all).

It really is an amazing reverb. And I can't stop dreaming about seeing the other algorithms released in VST form in the future.

I just e-mailed to info (at) princetondigital (dot) com. My e-mail bounced back too, but then miraculously I still got a reply :?: It seems that the e-mail was first automatically forwarded to some specific person, but he wasn't awailable or something... Dunno :?

A .dll with copy protection is annoying - even if I delete the .dll I can't get rid of the c/p which has corrupted the plugin on my system. Anyone else have the same problem?

My Live4 crashed the first time yesterday when I was trying out this reverb plugin. I don't know if it was just a coincidence, or if it was a bug in the plug, or if *gasp* the copyprotection actually does something afterall. Hmm... Now that we have the devs on this thread could they inform if the copyprotection can do this?

I'm personally a bit afraid after I heard the PACE word...

Hi! I've tried your reverb demo and I really like the sound but when I save a project with custom settings of the reverb, these settings are not restored when I reopen the project. Is this a limitation of the demo?? I've tried it in Cubase SX 2 and EnergyXT - neither of these hosts will save my custom reverb settings.
can't confirm this... using the full version and Tracktion here.... will try EXT and FLStudio4 now

so in FLstudio and EnergyXT I get the same (not saving the custom settings) bug :?

only in Tracktion it seems fine :D

Okay this reverb sounds really great, but I just feel it's too buggy right now. I can't even get a sound out of it in Live 4, which is the host I use the most... When I drop the reverb on a track (or send) it simply mutes the output.

Does this for me in Tracktion....

In my Live 4 when I tweak the knobs and let go of the mouse button and quickly after that move my mouse, the knobs turn slightly, just like I still had the mouse button held down for a fraction of a second.

that problem is already fixed... and will come in the next release....

as a workaround pull the dry slider a bit up (default is at zero.... maybe -56dB)

Confirmed, settings not saved when loading up a project in Cubase. Horrible bug.

Ha, and I just thought that was part of the demo restrictions  .

It's getting great feedback for its sound but it seems to be causing a lot of problems in different hosts. I wish they would release a save disabled demo or one with a drop out every 30 secs. Rather than the c/p. At least then I could test it out. :?

At least East Enders is on tonite. :hihi:

I like the Native Instruments method of instant challenge and response online.
Nice idea but completely impractical for me...my music PC is not and will not be connected to the net. I dislike the Steinberg method that is geared towards dongle s/w upgrade via the net...at least they provide a downloadable update app, but it's a pain in the arse that I only put up with because the recording host is so important (can't make bloody music without it  ).

I don't object to having a physical dongle, but I only have 2 USB ports, and it would quickly rule out many products if they all had dongles.

I'm sorely tempted to not even load the demo (I have it downloaded already)...the PACE thing is starting to disturb me - I've just bought a new PC, new OS, new host and it seems to be stable so far...I certainly don't like the risk of stuffing it up, and I'm not into computing well enough to like the idea of having to go into the registry and bugger around with it if I decide not to actually buy the plugin. :?

And presets don't save? Are you sure that's not just a demo restriction?

I'm in a real dilemma now - I sure do want this plugin, but there are compelling reasons for not buying it, and not even testing the demo. Howabout a CD product - I really don't mind the extra for CD and postage if it keeps the developer's peace-of-mind re copy protection. Even if it's only a handful of users that have PACE problems....I don't want to risk being one of those few.

Shit! And I had today pegged down as being a day for testing out the reverb - my first day off, it's raining, wife's gone to work...perfect for cranking up the volume, pleasuring myself with the holy grail of a decent native reverb, and now I'm not sure I can risk it. :x :x :x

Post

Im getting serious crashes in SX 2 when using the reverb. I assume the demo is fully working or it would of been mentioned on the website. What a shame, it sounds so good but way to buggy to ever risk using in a project.
