Really? Like what? All I see here are the 3 minor changes in the latest release, so I'm wondering if there's been more development than I might have read about https://refx.com/nexus/version/

I've read some excellent proposals for changes in here and other places, but none of them have been taken up by refx.

Still having GUI issues not recalling the font size. On win10 studio one 4.6 with latest nexus build.

Ps. A Layering sounds option, would be great, if it's possible to do it for arps, why restrict it for sounds?

Turned out that, for me anyway, reFX Cloud has not been updating the vst2 version since 3.0.3, and only updating the vst3 (this is in Win 10). I have a support ticket with them, as there appeaars to be no way to change plugin file paths in reFX cloud, only the content.
In the cloud tool options, disable `Run plugin installers silently`. Then you can run the installer and pick a location.

Next version of the cloud tool will have an option to set the path.
Thanks - I've unchecked it, but it doesn't want to update because it thinks I already have. No biggie though, I'll wait for the next version or reFX Cloud if its not far off.

Thanks too to harryvdblock - can't find my temp folder with the installer, but again I'm happy to wait for a fix if its not far off.

It's in %appdata%\..\Local\temp
You can copy/paste this link in Windows explorer or press Windows key + R and then paste the link. You should be in the correct folder immediately then.

Thanks... and the plot thickens. Your reply overlapped with my ticket reply which told me to manually remove the VST2 version. I did this, couldn't run the reFX Cloud installer as it believes I already have it installed, so then found the manual installer thanks to your kind help. This ran, but only seems to install a VST3 version.

On next launch of Cubase, the vst2 version had now become Nexus 2! Cubase had picked up an old dll in another location. Removed this, and now there is no VST2 version at all.

It looks to me as if after 3.0.3 the installer isn't installing a VST2 version. It can't be that simple really otherwise surely gazillons of others would have had the same thing. But the 3.0.3 version of Nexus 3 came from somewhere - via reFX Cloud - and 3.0.10 doesn't do a thing except install the VST3 version.

...and problem solved!

The problem was in the 3.0.10 installer. The file path had a rogue parenthesis at the end - C:\Program Files\VstPlugins}, so it was putting the dll into a different folder that the DAWs couldn't see. I've taken it out of there, put it where it should be and both VST2 and VST3 versions are now working properly.

Incidentally, the 3.0.6 installer was directing it by default to C:\Program Files\Steinberg\VstPlugins , so it looks like different versions have been put into all kinds of odd places. Hopefully reFX will get this sorted in future installs...

Just as a general FYI as I've been fiddling around here with all these installs - the basic plugin only takes up 40mb when loaded, but once the GUI is opened it shoots up to 140mb. Closing it again reclaims about half of that on the first instance, and all of it thereafter (this behaviour is in Cubase). So if you have several instances, worth keeping them closed unless you're working on them, then it remains very frugal on resources. An 8 layer SQ patch from the new Rom Extension only added about 90mb.

By way of comparison, Avenger 1.5 takes up 500mb on an init patch GUI closed, and adds another 150mb with GUI open. A complex SQ patch can take up nearly 1000mb on top of this (I tried one with 8 parts), giving a whopping 1.6gb or more for a single instance.

So the old adage remains - Nexus is much lighter on resources than Avenger.

From the website:

New Librarian
Completely new librarian. It's large so it can fit all the content available for NEXUS3!

This is a pretty standard feature in any synth nowadays. Its better to say that the old librarian was so small even by yesterday standards that it was almost pathetic.

It's funny that its shown as the first big reason for an upgrade.

It's like those big sluggish government institution who advertise in 2019 - look, now you can send us your requests, by fax! :)

Is 99 euro a permanent price for the upgrade or is it going to increase after the Christmas sale?

Seems to be fixed with 3.0.11!

The 99 upgrade was before the christmas sale begun so imo it's excluded from the sale.

Good-o - this I think was universal issue for Windows in 3.0.10, it just had a rogue character at the end of the folder location for VST2.

Dupe of pointless post. Because when it's pointless - might as well double down on it!
