NI and Maschine WTF are they up to now ?

Honestly its contributed to me being cautious and not upgrading my Komplete12 to 12 Ultimate during the Sale...

I think if things are going to change, its going to take a while. I am sure Komplete product line will continue as is for aonther year or two at least. I am curious to see if there is any movement or bite to the rumors by NI customers that NI will go online subscription or something like that. Then you should start to see more option for Komplete 13 or 14 upgrades. A higher priced regular upgrade option and a subscription. The reason the regular option should be higher priced than usual would be they are trying to get customers to switch to subscription model. Who knows what will happen.

Komplete Care, I bought it, you were supposed to get all updates for 2005, it ended up they had to give us a bunch of extras because they couldn't keep the schedule and nothing came out in 2005.
This is why update models suck, Microsoft or Apple decide to completely change the OS, and developers aren't going to be able to keep up. I think it too 5 years for Live 9 to come out because of issues getting Live 8 stable with Max 4 Live etc. Things happen.

Honestly I'm only completely addicted to Kontakt at this point. NI make great stuff, I'm just using Falcon, Cypher2, Pigments, Hive2, Diva, Lion etc. etc. more these days.

In my oppinion The Industry has caught Up to NI. Except Kontakt. Kontakt even is not IMO the best sampler anymore (Falcon is my Personal Fav) but it's the only one with industry standard content everywhere. Therefore its the most Necessary one.
The only 2 programs I feel I would Spend money for today are Kontakt and Reaktor. MABYE Fm8 but, I mean that feels like its abandonware at this point.

I feel like most big companies end up sitting on their laurels a bit too much. Exception here is Arturia, but I'm guessing they weren't doing that well before stepping up their game in recent years. iZotope I have to give credit to for the latest suites as well. For me Tonal Balance Control was a game changer mastering wise.

All that said, NI have the brain trust, they could come out with massive improvements to Maschine, actually bother to upgrade Absynth, FM8 and Guitar Rig, or they could just add 50 more mediocre sample libraries to Komplete.

I think nearly the same. i also have komplete, but this xmas I'm sure NI synths are further pushed into the background. Pigments2 and Icarus2 is just released, synthmaster3 is on its way, avenger and rapid and many other nextgen synths are receiving updates from time to time.
Honestly, i don't know why should i keep for example Absynth installed, when xyz synths can do the same plus much more. I believe this ^^ it probably what is causing the NI corp to make changes. They need to adjust to market conditoins. They are not the only game in town anymore and quite frankly, a lot of other smaller software makers are making amazingly good quality products.

Reaktor is cool. and Blocks is great for learning how to make your own synths. FM8 does seem like its not updated in a long time. Same with Absynth. The Super 8 is totally with it IMO if it goes on a 50% off sale.

Yup- I also subscribed to Komplete Care...it was a bit of a fiasco I seem to remember...but a taste of things to come (Subscribe to Roland Cloud then get a years worth of 90's Rompers you have no interest in...)

Personally I am OK with the Bitwig model, works for me as like Komplete you own the software and can use it witout upgrading but you can just jump back on an upgrade when something(s) interest you and benefit from all the other stuff that came along as well.

The Cloud model is a completely different proposition- no pay, no use! If NI go that way it will probably end them as so much of what they offer is specialist and just not needed by most types of producer/composer (it just ends up as part of a bundle) and the other stuff they have is largely neglected or simply superseded by better and more updated offerings....and I say this as someone who owns Komplete 12 ultimate and a Maschine Mikro…!

It gets even better, you can't rollback either because the new version has updated all your DB files, so you can lose all your work and roll back completely fresh or any earlier version will just crash, hahahahaha, how do they get away with this crap, there is no mention of it at all on their forum, what is the point of having testers that only use built in sounds, very very sad.

Could it be your issue is related to this? Do you recall what version were on up before you upgraded?

-There is an "Update" button to migrate former "Sub-Sub-Type" tags to "Character" tags in the user library

No upgrade button, and also there are a lot of tags that are greyed out and uneditable, the new tag system is completely broken for anybody who actually samples

Basically they have streamlined/consolidated, whatever you want to call it their teams/departments.

E.g. instead of having 1 x team working on the UI for Machine, 1 x team working on the UI for Kontakt, 1 x team working on the UI for their other shit, they have one team working on ALL their UIs. Sharing the development and code base across all their software.

Ofc this means that some people/roles are gonna be redundant. It happens all the time in the business world, but reading some of the comments and the hysteria on here, you would think the sky is falling.

I would like proof of this if possible, all I have been told is that teams where dissolved and there is very few people at all working on updates for anything, so different things are being heard and nobody has any real idea what is going over there.

When you create a sample in Maschine and save it, it is no longer found in the browser, see gif 1



However, if you load a sample that was created in a previous version of Maschine and then save as, it is found in the browser, see gif 2



However, if you load a sample that was created in a previous version of Maschine and then drag n drop to create new, then save as, again it is not found, see gif 3



Also note that samples created a in previous version of Maschine now have product tags that can not be edited, the properties are greyed out, see gif 4



This is all making Maschine completely unusable for anybody who samples.
