I have FL studio. I need some strings ( and a piano would be nice also)

I am considering the following

Symphony strings,(sample tank)

Ravity s,

or possibly the Cult sampler.

I do not have a sampler except what is in FL. I do not want to spend more than $200. I need some strings. They do not have to be super realistic, but I want something that does not fall apart, or sound cheezy in the higher registers.

I have listened to the symphonic strings online demo, and though I would like to go this route, I am hesitant, because the samples seem to sound bad as they get higher. The ravity is Ok,but seems a little high priced for just acceptable strings, and maybe not using for much else, and It is very hard to tell about the Cult samples.

If I could get my strings from an old clavinova into FL, I would be happy.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

You might as well try sfz with a decent soundfont before you spend any money

Cadenza and Ney strings aren't bad. And if you do some research based on this list

you might even find better ones.

would Kompakt handle this?

You might need to convert them first, e.g. with

BTW Kompakt will read Soundfonts, too.

There are several very good string sf2s out there, and Hammersound is an excellent place to look, as is

The Hollow Sun library is probably the best source of classic and contemporary synth as well as vintage keyboard and drum machine samples on the web. The quality and diversity are excellent, as is the detailed information about each instrument in the library. You can get a very good education in the history of electronic musical instruments just by reading the site.

This library, complete through October 1st, is available on cd as an official authorized edition, including a bank of original presets in sf2 format.
It will be shipping as of Monday, October 25th, but possibly sooner. This is a good way to save yourself a lot of time downloading, translating and tweaking presets. Hollow Sun Classic Instruments sf2 Edition may be preordered by writing john@dangerousbear.com

Good luck with whatever you do about sampled instruments and in your musical pursuits.

I was excited to find that link to Hollow Sun. I am just getting into this virtual recording so I want get some more experience before I shell out for somethings, though I tried a demo of the Albino synth and that one is really tempting. I use to have or have access to several of the instruments on the Hollow Sun site, (Rhodes, Vox organ, Hammond, multimoog, arp odessy) so it looks like a lot of fun. Thanks for the string sources. I'll be trying them out tonight.
