General DAW routing question

I recently started to get familiar with Reaper, one negative comment I bumped into was; if you create a folder track (sort of like folder+group track merged to one compared to other daw's) and use aux sends to the tracks in it, when you lower the volume of group track the aux level stays the same...like; if group volume lowered (even muted), you'll hear reverb from aux unchanged.
I use Samp. and its same with that too, folder tracks in samp. though are to cover groups (can't open plug-ins etc.). Is this any different in other DAW's or do they offer a different way to manage this situation?

That sounds logical, assuming I understand what you wrote.
Individual tracks send their audio to the folder/group and they'll be heard more quietly if you lower the folder/group volume. BUT they also send audio to aux tracks, BEFORE they're summed in the folder/group. When you lower the signal on folder/group level it's AFTER the sound has been already sent from individual tracks to aux, so even muting won't change that. You need to adjust send levels of individual track volumes (assuming sends are post fader) to change what you hear from aux.

?
Isn’t this a pre/post-fader send question?

I just wonder if any other DAW has an advantage/solution over this that reaper doesn't offer.

Would be, if sends were at the folder / group level

I don't see how behaving illogically would be an advantage. This is how it SHOULD work.Cooker wrote: Wed Dec 18, 2019 12:11 pmI just wonder if any other DAW has an advantage/solution over this that reaper doesn't offer.
Just place the sends at the folder / group level (post-fader) or use a VCA track instead of folder / group to control the volume of several tracks together, without actually routing them to a common bus (I never used Reaper but I'd be surprised if it didn't have one).

They can be in most DAWs, but that was not the OP's use case. That's what I'm sayingMushy Mushy wrote: Wed Dec 18, 2019 1:13 pmIn Cubase they can be.
